Hi Sounds like a very interesting time. I am sure there is much to see and I hope that you do that safely. Hope the conference is informative and that it is worth all the travel that you hate.
Keep safe.
Ann
Too funny! You are so funny. I don't know who else would think to order such a silly item, but defintely has to keep the spirits up. I hope you enjoyed all your birthday gifts...can you open up the travel mug to see what size battery it takes? I'll send you a new one. Take care!
1 in a million What a chance meeting. The General had just been promoted and will, I assume, be leaving for Tampa. A one in a million encounter.
Be safe, God bless,
Dad
Independence Day Seems that you are becoming an expert in patience! We all remembered you and your fellow soldiers, past and present, who have and are making the world a safer place to be!
Flying the Happy Skies You never know who you might run into on a flight. I'm sure for once the heat and exhaust were worth the 8X10 for posterity. Not everyday you get to meet the generals' General!
Riding bikes It was great to read your new entries! Sounds like you aren't letting any grass (sand) grow under your feet! Guess Mark didn't know how fast you can go on a bicycle when you get going!!!
Joining Team Anthony Michael,
I stumbled upon your blog while doing research for a deployment of my own. I will follow your tour and comment when appropriate.
BTW, I'm an Army Aviation CPT. 7 years active duty, but just joined the guard.
Keep up the good work brother.
Chris
So generally you rarely know whether you are coming or going! Sounds like a typical ETD day except your is on steroids! Thanks so much for these wonderful logs of your adventure. Although, in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather be talking to you here, than reading about you.
Thank You Thanks for the mention in this entry. It sounds like a wonderful time and a thank you note certainly was in order. Sad that it isn't more common. Manners must be a lot like sense, not so common! Miss you lots.
mystry meat Still looks like the same old mystery meat to me.
Thanks so much for the Father's Day gift. I'll write more later.
Hope the box arrived.
Be safe.
Love,
Dad
345th combat support hospital Hey there I am a dj in dallas. I just sent a ton of magnets to a friend of mine over there (345th combat support hospital)who shares your frustrations with regard to the magnet issue. In any case I reached out to AAFES which is headquartered here in DFW. I wrote them a letter begging them to send magnets over to their px so I hope it will have some impact.
Cheers and thanks. If you need a friend, mine is Sgt. Frank Cavanagh who is at the 345th. He is famous you know? He used to be in the band Filter. I just sent him a ton of books too so if you need reading material go find him. He is very cool and bigger than the mirror
Your tour in Iraq Dear Michael,
Hey! I just got on the computer and read I think all of your blogs! Your mom forwarded them to me! We are soooo......proud of you and miss you! Congratulations on your promotion, that's great and says a lot for you! Sorry I haven't read these before now, but with little Andrew John coming, John coming home from Iraq, and getting the farm house ready for Greg, Carrie, and baby to move to Grandma Schad's farm house it's been crazy. If Melissa hasn't had the baby by Father's Day she will go in that evening and they will start to induce her, she's due the 12th. Hope Elisabeth and Kristen is doing well.
We just picked up John on the 29th in Ky after his 24 hr flight home. Melissa was ecstatic!! I went with her to pick him up so she wasn't on the road by herself.
Sound's like you have all the comforts of home--TV, fridges, beds, microwave what more could you ask for, HA! Let us know what you need! Seriously!!!!!!
We do appreciate all the sevicemen do for our great country! Keep up the good work, but stay safe!
It's 11:59 p.m. here, so I'd better go to sleep! Will try to write once a week!
Love you! A. Amy
Aww..how proud! That's great, Michael! Congratulations! I'm sure the shoes will be too tight again soon. :) The letter ML refers too was great...I appreciate getting my name in the letter all because of Starbuck's. You'd have an even harder time remembering my drink now because it's decaf....fun stuff! Hope you are keeping the sand out of your ear's? Miss ya!
Way to go!!! Wow!!! That's what I am talking about!!! You are awesome! I so miss you...please be careful!...the way you are going you will be running the whole Army soon! I am so proud of you!
Take care.....G
Proud of You What great news. You surely don't let any grass (or sand) grow under your feet! Land, eat pizza, get promoted! I am very proud of you and for you.
We got your letter today and I am passing it around the group. It was great to get the letter and see your unique handwriting!
Take care of you.
BBQ How many Webers does it take to feed an army? You will need a continuing supply of Show Me. Will see what we can do. Glad you all had a little time to let down, albeit so little. In "39 cigars"you will be the ones throwing the farewell shindig! love.
Congratulations I am delighted you have been recognized for your capabilities, although I am sure that you will miss your predecessor. You will do a great job, as usual, and make sure everyone is taken care of. All "glory" and no pay, that's the Army way, right?! ha. Seriously, we are all proud of you.
