Rain
According to our sources, there has only been 2 decent showers, and apart from that only a few spits. A bit of lightning around also. They say it might rain in the outer suburbs but not in Darwin. Don't know whether to believe the telly or those who live there. It's hot there but I suppose it is hot along the west as well. Safe travels.

Hello from Blackpool
Hi Pete and Suzanne en route to Broome! Sounds as though you have had a wonderful journey so far. That is fantastic and I am really pleased for you. I recall Broome being a very interesting place and main business used to be Pearl buttons!!!! They are still heavily into Pearls so get your wallet out Pete! The pearl button business has sadly gone as plastic buttons became so much more available( not to mention zippers and velcro!) But interesting history. I am in dear old Blackpool right now and two weeks ago I caught up with Hazel,Betty and Ernie's sister, and we went to B lackpool Tower Ballroom. It was ace! I leave next Friday (with mixed feelings)and go back to Melbourne via Hong Kong. Keep in touch travelling Kiwis and we will catch up in some little corner of the globe and have a corroboree!!!! (Party!) Love Kyra

Pearls
Hi Kyra Good to hear from you and yes I did manage to get Pete into several pearl shops but not sign of his wallet I am afraid. Still I suppose if I have to chose between a string of pearls and a trip to Europe then the travel would have to be the pick. Great to hear that you caught up with Hazel and I bet you had a good old time in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. (Was it high tea that you had?) Wishing you a pleasant trip back to Melbourne. Suzanne and Pete

We have some sad news, Mum passed away on the 10th of July. Sad for us not so sad for her as her quality of life was not good. Enjoy the beautiful weather, it is freezing here. Darwin
Hi Robert, Great to hear from you too. Still waiting for some of your photos of your trip to the Himalayas! Would love to see a shot of you in the mountains with all your gear on with a sherpa by your side! Yes, we certainly are enjoying Darwin, although it would be nice if, we had a car to drive around in now that we are settled here for a while. We used to laugh at all the caravanners and just how long it used to take them to set up and pack up before they could move. Now it is us that they are laughing at as we have to close all our windows, put the awning away etc to go out for the day, where as they just jump in their 4WD's. Nevermind, at least we are getting fit and getting plenty of excercise on our bikes.

Darwin
Hi Suzanne and Pete Good to get your blog and glad you like Darwin. I really liked it in the few days I was there some years ago. I was wondering where you had got to! Sounds like a good idea to stay there for a while, nice weather, nice jobs and nice life! Very cold and wet in Melbourne so north is the place to be! I am trying to rememeber where there is a small museum (I think it was run by the RSL) It ran a film show about the Japanese invading Darwin during the war and then a film on Cyclone Tracey. It was a nice place to visit. Only small but very interesting. Hope you can find it. Take care of yourselves, and keep in touch, Love Kyra

catching up
Hi Suzanne - just checked out your page again - we didn't get out that way but hope to some time. The hot weather put us off but during the winter months would be ideal. However, I have gone back to work for 2 days a week so we will possibly just take a month or so at a time and head off now and again. We did the North Qld thing last winter and it was pretty hot - not cold anywhere except at Ravenswood one night. Good to see you are having a wonderful time still! Happy travels.

Darwin
Hi Barb Wonderful to see that you are still following our blog so it hopefully is not too boring! Darwin in so great that I have now got a job here and Pete should have one very soon. Weather is hot and the place is great for biking around as it is very flat. Very friendly neighbours in the campsite so we couldn't ask for anything more. Happy travelling yourselves.
