Darwin again!! You just got that loving feeling for Darwin, thats what it is, cobbs. Glad you are both OK. Your jobs sound terrific. Not too sure about the 'Big Wet' I believe it can be very tedious , but what the hell, you can always start a Monopoly Club and spend the nights over the board game. Or Trivia!! Sounds good. Be very very wary of the crocs. I cannot think of a worse way to go and I know they are fast and cunning. Don't fall asleep on the beaches either. Jenny (who used to work for us) is up at the Northern Territory, slept on the sandy banks of some water way and found croc foot prints all around their tent in the morning! Take care of stuff like that. Thinking of you. Love Kyra.
PS: Betty's sister Hazel is coming out in October to visit Ernie and Jacqui and other family members and will come to see me in Melbourne. xx
Darwin Hi Kyra, This working full time certainly puts a stop to me spending hours on the internet doing blogs and sending emails! I hated the Air North job as it was so so boring and next week commence a new career as Assistant Manager with QBD The Bookshop and really looking forward to interacting with the public again as my last job saw me spending 8 hours in front of a computer screen with conversation with fellow staff members frowned upon! Can see why the last person only lasted a month as the boss was a real witch to put it mildly! Please say hi to Hazel from Pete and I and maybe we will be able to call for a coffee with her when we get to Europe late next year unless knowing our luck she will be in Austalia or NZ.
Letter Everything is going well.My sister and her husband have moved back to Katherine to live for a few years. Our weather has been mild for winter.Dot,Cherly and Donald arrive for the wedding on the 23rd of December.Dot arrives on Boxing Day.Neil is well and still walking, lost 14 kgs in weight.the wedding plans are going well?Di and Peter are well.

Darwin Hi Mandy and Neil, Good to hear from you. Neil you must be a fraction of your former self and will look very dapper at Justine's wedding I am sure. We would love to come over for the after do if we can get time off work if you don't mind so that we can see you all again. Are you having it at your home?
Alice Springs Hi Suzanne and Pete, Glad you survived the journey with no tyres!!!!! Crumbs!. Lovely photo of the Southern Ocean, I have been there once upon a time and also at a different time to Alice Springs (with Robin). I vaguely remember that we took the Casino by storm!!!!! But The Radio school of the air was great to see and listen to the kids piping up from the bush. Also the train line where it stopped due to lask of funds in the pioneer days.
And of course, the Dri- as- a- bone, Todd River, OK in the day probably, but not great after dark. Enjoy the Alice, maybe get out the movie, Town like etc.....?
Love Kyra
Alice Springs Amazingly enough the new tyres took longer to fit than first expected resulting in our being able to have lunch with our daughter Tessa who just happened to be commencing a 5 day tour of Ayers Rock, Kings Canyon and Alice so that was a real bonus!
reply to blog Glad to that you are having a great trip and seeing lots meeting felow travelers and blowing tyres its all in the fun all the best George and Del
Rockingham Hi George and Del
Thanks once again for being such wonderful hosts and friends whilst we were stuck in Rockingham. You made it so much more bearable and we had a wonderful time with you both which we probably wouldn't have done otherwise. Yes we are having a great time but could do without the tyre hassles definitely. Have just been out to celebreate our safe arrival in Alice with a couple of drinks and delicious meals!
Letter Every thing is going well.Neil and I spent 10 days driving up to Townsville to see the Grandkids. We stayed at a few places while driving up.Di is working at a Motel cleaning in Toowoomba.Everything is going well for the wedding,Justine has everything under control.Justine started a new job a few weeks ago,got sick of the Rental Dept.Justine has a new office job less pressure.

Lucky travellers I can see you are very happy to be on the road again. It certainly is a good life, and heading north for the warmth is always a good idea . Enjoy and safe travelling.
Hi from NZ Hi guys, It all sounds wonderful. Good for you. Are you going to Streaky Bay near Ceduna. ( Sth Aust end of Nullabor plain) Its where Jane & I grew up. If you do look up my brother John Haycraft, 6 Speed Ave. We are in Takaka at present traveling in our camper. Gorgeous & we love this life too. Off to Bali soon for my birthday & Kaen & Dave coming too as well as Sandy & Graeme & Jan & Wayne. 23 of us including Jane & Neil from Darwin.Sandy & Graeme got the camper van bug too. Anyway, keep having fun & enjoy gorgeous Darwin. Go to a terrible movie!! We took Sandy & Graeme to a terrible NZ movie the other night & told them I'll be getting a reputation. Of course thats despite the fact that most of my choices are wonderful!!!
Streaky Bay Hi Liz and Mike
Lovely to hear from you! We are camped just before the SA/WA border town of Eucla so quite a few kms from Streaky Bay yet. We will try and call and say hi to your brother when passing though and hope we find him home.
So, there are 23 of you going to Bali. I bet you have a wonderful time if it is anything like some of those Lake Tarawera parties Pete and I have had the pleasure of attending ie. Fireworks on the lake and Sandie and Graham's sixties theme night. I would consider it an ideal place for Pete and I to put down roots but honestly would like somewhere a tad warmer in the winter as all this Aussie sunshine has made me soft!
Hope to catch up with Jane in Darwin as I am keen to commence line dancing again. Think I still have her email somewhere.
Have fun in Takaka. Glad to here that Sandie and Graham have the campervan bug too. (Far more comfortable than a motorbike!)
Darwin Hello Suzanne and Pete, See you are on the road to Darwin, leaving the lovely blue Indian Ocean and heading back to Darwin. Nice place to be in the Winter!!!!!
Keep the photos coming. and keep well. Don't work too hard up there at the Top End! Love Kyra
Top end. Hi Kyra,
Great to hear from you. Hope you are well. Yes, we are looking forward to settling for a while in Darwin once more. Not long now.
Hope you had a good time in Rotorua and you were able to catch up with Jacquie and Ernie although I am sure the place isn't the same anymore without Betty to call on.
Maybe when we are in Darwin we can connect via Skype so that we can chat occasionaly.
Regards
Suzanne
4 August, 2012 - Peter and Suzanne, being of the Baby Boomers generation, are now setting forth on the next travel phase of our lives. We met many years ago in Cape Town, South Africa, Suzanne from Oldham in England and Peter from Cambridge in New Zealand, on an overland expedition taking six months to get to London. A year later we then journeyed from London to Australia overland taking 10 months. We settled in Rotorua, New Zealand, had 3 great kids who are now doing their own thing and it is now, excitingly, time for us to recommence where we left off. We have, with much trepidation on my... full info
