I caught the travel bug at 19 when my friend said, "Hey you want to go to London with me for a week?" After that I was hooked. I save up each year to take an international trip to a different destination. I've been to 12 countries in Europe, 2 in South America, as well as Canada, Costa Rica, China, and Mexico. Like they say, "Live everyone moment as if it's your last." My money does me no good in my grave so I figure I best spend it now. Someone once told me, "If you spend your money on material goods they can be lost, stolen, or broken. However, if you spend it on experiences, no one can ever take those away."

After departing from our private hotel in Isla de Las Piedras (Stone Island) we set out to search for food. We were told to drive about five minutes down the road to get to the *center* of town. I seriously could of walked there in five minutes and it turned out to be more like a string of restaurants. I also use the term restaurants very loosely. They are places to eat with a sand floor and makeshift roofs with open sides. No complaints here though as this leads to a beautiful view of the ocean as well as a nice warm breeze! We choose the last restaurant for no apparent reason. Since there was no one around we weren't sure if any of them were even open. They assured us they were open and told ... read more

It began like any of our other road trips... While packing our bags we remembered a hotel room was in order. I finished the packing while Erika booked us a room online. "This one has good reviews," she yelled from her mother's computer. "Book it!" I replied. And with those two words, the story begins... With the trunk full of our things and the car loaded with gas we were off for a few days in Mazatlan! The views from the newly opened autopista were amazing. The three hours flew by as I stared out the window at the dramatic scenery! Around 4:30 in the afternoon we arrived to central Mazatlan. As we had only had breakfast we stopped for some a late lunch and to ask directions to our hotel. In our normal manner, all ... read more

After a rough evening due to misconstrued information by our tour guide, Jing, the tour bus was filled with excited about our upcoming fun filled day. Jing had swindled us into spending $39 on a Rickshaw ride and a dinner with a local family the night before. In order to make up for her error she added a few extra stops to our trip for the day - we were going to stop for a picture with the WaterCube and Bird's Nest as well as visit a Traditional Medicine Doctor. As we climbed on the bus everyone was ready for the Wall of China. Some of us were dressed in our best for pictures. Clearly the Diva Squad (a group of 4 from Texas) were in dresses and heels for the occasion. Of course, the Colombian woman ... read more

Our very last meal of the trip was a traditional Peking Duck. Our anticipation had been growing since the previous day. For an appetizer we had hit up the Beijing night market where you can buy just about anything deep fried; and I do mean anything. As the street vendor said, "You want eat testicles - BALLS" as he included an appropriate (or one could argue inappropriate) gesture. As we walked away he said, "Penis, you want fried penis" as he held up a penis on a stick. There was fried snake, birds (yes, the kind that land on your windowsill), starfish, sea horse, scorpions, silkworms, tarantulas and many, many more. We figured, "When in Rome" and jumped in to try something. Feeling refreshed from our massages and diagnosis by a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor, I ... read more
