Standing By With You We are praying and waiting with you. We look forward to seeing you again. Wouldn't it be wonderful if God would arrange Praise being able to join us at VBS in Lisbon...
Thanks I know its an old posting, but wow, how true. We do forget to realize the beauty in the things around us.
A Ghanaian bush star filled night sky is the most beautiful thing i've ever seen.
Bday Party During one of my visits to Ghana, I learned it was one of my host families childs birthday! Excitedly I offered to pay for a birhtday party, her sweet 16, and her first ever birthday celebration. We had it at an oceanside restaurant in Tema and the kids were very excited. I purchased a nice big cake with tons of icing from a local shop.. Being in Ghana for a week I was ready for a nice piece of sweet cake! Imagine my surprise when I took a spoonful of that icing into my mouth!
So glad to hear that Kojo is progressing. Another big answer to prayer is that Akos and Alesha would get a chance to be well challenged and used before the end of their stay. God is so good. I hope you get your rest Christine - you have really been on the run. It is snowing here as I write this...
Prayers,
Jeff
Alesha's Plans Wow, you made a great choice to stay in the village! The people, the relationships are so special. I look forward to hearing about how your night study goes. I am very proud of you Alesha and am so glad you are making the most of your trip. I have shared the blog site with many in the last few weeks.
The old man It is great to know you are there doing the Lords work. I am so proud of you and all you have accomplished. Continue to draw strength from on high and He will give you the tools to complete your tasks.
I love you, miss you and pray for you.
Go Girl! Hey Alesha, glad to read you have arrived! I lift you and the school up in prayer everyday and look forward to all that God has for you there. 2 Cor 9:6-15
Love that pucker!!! Okay, Praise, have you been sucking on lemons lately??? That is quite the pucker you've got going there!!! I'm sure that you had a great time with the bubbles! We have a few guys around here who love the bubbles, too!!! Boy would you four have a good time together!!!!
Welcome! Hi all! And welcome Alesha! I'm so impressed and inspired by your adventurous spirit. I'm sure being there with Chris and Kirk and those beautiful, dedicated students will be an experience you'll treasure forever.
And, wow! Praise got big!! :)
hunter's eye Kir, reminds me of a few years ago at Mercy Ships home office in Lindale, Texas. John Copley and I were walking in the bush looking for a possible site for a demonstration farm. I grew up in the woods of northern California - with rattlesnakes, mountain lions, etc. Not sure where Jon was from. But I identify with the hunter's eye. He was about 10 feet ahead of me on a small trail through brush about 4-5 feet high. As he passed by one particular bush I could see hidden on a branch next to him a large rattlesnake. I stopped and pointed it out to him after he was safely by. Fortunately the snake was only sunning itself!

Just viewed March's blog Oh Christine, the school is beautiful. How nice the rooms are and the students dress. I bet you cried on the day it opened. A dream come true. Pepper
Animal Saver Google Search - "Tree Hyrax". I'm going to myself and see if I can gather more info for the students. Not related to but look similar to a guinea pig. He will get to be about the size of a rabbit.
Animal Saver Can't see the little dude in the picture very well. How big is it, and how big will it be full grown? Are they related to anything in the U.S.? The last time we rescued a critter, it was some kind of duck we think may have gotten hit on the road. He wasn't hurt bad, just kind of knocked silly for a while. I went to Meijers for some gold fish, and the little guy ate them fast. We took him up to a lady around Bay City that takes care of birds, and he probably spent time in rescue park till he got better. He was either a Lesser or Greater Scaup...I can't remember which! :)
God honors the simple life I tend to agree with your question...which is better, having all available to us (so much unhealthy and unwholesome) or having little and getting by. My years in Africa gave me perspective to appreciate the simplicity with which our brothers and sisters live...joy through whatever may come and holding onto unwavering faith that God is good...all the time. We Westerners have much to learn from their tenacity and resilience. And we can certainly do with fewer, better yet... NO Big Macs!! God bless you!
Michigander ...?? hmm I know, I know. I use to run thru the snow barefoot! The thought of doing that now just about stops my heart! I left MI in 1991 and as the years pass "my blood" is going thru some transformations. 80deg is now the PERFECT temperature! :)
harmattan i was totally unprepared for the harmattan. when i was packing my mom told me i had to pack a pair of jeans. i didn't think i needed them but i was so glad i did. at night i would ware my pj pants under my jeans. i would layer my shirts and with a sweatshirt and a jacket. it was so cold.
Winter Christine!! Don't be such a wimp!! Your a Michigander, for crying out loud!! :) Although, sound like our temps any yours have been pretty close for the last several days. We should have snow again by Sat. or Sun. Try to stay warm and dust free!! :P
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hi guys! I don't know how I missed this email until today but was very happy to find it. The kids are beautiful! I hope you're enjoying your vacation and time away. Mowing on Christmas, huh? Well I must say, your lawn looks better than mine ever does! Imagine you heard about our big snowstorm right after the holidays. We had a white New Year's if not a white Christmas. So pretty. Now we're slogging around in the mud (50's, can you believe it?) until it all freezes back up again. Kids all back to school today. They were happy to get back into the routine. Time off is nice but it can also make you appreciate *not* being home. Lol. xo's to all, Peggy
Josiah and Erin Engaged!? Wow! A BIG Congradulations to them. Do they have a date set? You can send one or two (jpeg) pictures to our regular email address. Pictures take sooooo long for us to download. Waiting for them. Happy New Year to your entire clan! Christine
MErry Christmas-God bless Hi guys!! Loved your entry, as always!! So interesting, and I loved the pics!!! The little girls are so adorable in their Christmas outfits and beautiful hair-dos! And Praise has grown-slimmed down some, it looks to me. I really like your Christmas roosters-them's some handsome dudes!!!!! I wouldn't mind having some of those guys around here!!! Anyway-I wanted to send you a picture of our family-wondereing how to email it? Thru this sight or somewhere else? Hope you have some wonderful days of relaxation here soon. Sounds like a dream come true to me-being on the beach and all. I love just hanging out on the beach. Lots of time to pray and soak in the rays of God's love. And chase Praise!!!!! Best go-I'm falling asleep. Love you guys, Janet PS Did I tell you that Josiah is engaged??? To Erin Michaels- You would have met her. as their family was a part of the church(I think that you were at their house for church one time, Christine) They have since moved to the thumb, as her dad was layed off from his job. So Josiah is doing alot of traveling . Tell you more about it later!!!! Too tired now.
Merry Christmas! Hi Kirk and Christine, Praise, Hannah, and all other friends there in your village in Ghana! I enjoyed your update and am glad you have had a blessed Christmas and hosting your guests. I was blessed to host Consuelo and Eric York last Sunday night as they have been in NC for a few months. I gave her your contact info, so you should hear from her. God bless you in 2008...you are a blessing!! Love, Sandy
Snowflakes for Thanksgiving day 11/22/07 On Nov. 22nd a very special person was born some years ago. I have known him only a few of those year-- his name is Kirk Wiltse. You may call him by other names in Africa. This Thanksgiving day I had him in mind all of the day. I wore a funny vest with cows on it that I got one year while in North Dakota, where Kirk was born. I told told the family I was having my wonderful meal with about him and his work in Africa. But, the most special part of that day was when I awoke in the early morning to see a very "White snow" covering the yard outside my bedroom window. Now Kirk I am told does not like the snow so much as Christine- who believes that the first snow of the year (here in MIchigan where she was born) should come on her birthday Nov 2. But this year God said I will shower my snowflakes (each one is individual and unique we are told, but it is hard to prove as they melt into one beautiful blanket covering the trees and ground) in my part of Michigan so I could give thanks for the man called Kirk who is a special part of my life- my son-in-law. I hope God blessed him very much that day and grant him many more years of service to God's children - young and old.
Ps. I love you too Christine and Praise and Kwabs
