Claim to fame Did you know that Uruguay won the first World Cup Tournament in 1930? neither did I till I googled it, must try and remember for the pub quiz. Seems to be the only significant famous event in Uruguay!
We're still awake back here! Hi Kerry, quirky one-liners are a bit thin on the ground at the mo....but yes, "still enjoying your entries and viewing the fabulous photographs" (thanks, Marj!) Awaiting Tales From The Home Strait avidly. Just hoping that the weather picks up for you - all irony intentional! See you soon. X
Hi, I think that all your previous blog comment contributors have run out of quirky one-liners, but are still enjoying reading your entries and viewing the fabulous photographs. See you soon.
On the road again You were right Kerry, "On the road again" is a song, SO old I can hardly remember it (yeah right) It was Canned Heat who released it in 1968. I enjoyed your Blog, Santa being the highlight. Lastly, the most poignant 'quote' of your trip.
Your amazing trip Hi Kerry your mum gave me your blog address and have been reading up about your amazing places you have visited yor coments are very funny you have a great way of describing places and events which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Alistair wish you well with the remainder of your travels and best wishes for 2009! HAPPY NEW YEAR wherever you are Kerry
Hope to see you at some point next year
Love Lynne x
I've been meaning to do this for ages (lazy) but after your last blog I have to tell you - your writing is awesome. I've loved reading all your blogs, and I'm telling you now, none of this law crap when you get back - you have to write a book!
Anyway, sounds like you're having an amazing life changing experience (a bit like what we shared at Standard Life) and I hope you enjoy the rest of it.
Take care!
Like Al's comment, I found your blog extremely moving, the haunting photographs of the victims, and the horror of the tunnels was horrendous. I can understand how difficult it was for you to write it. On a lighter note, the bracelet seller was a star. Keep up the good work, your Blogs are great reading!
Good morning (it is here.) I don't think I can really say anything that isn't stupidly crass about your post but otoh at least I won't bellow lines from Good Morning Vietnam at you unlike some people we both know. My brother went to Vietnam on his honeymoon this year and had much the same reaction as you, which is not that surprising considering.
In news of considerably less importance, Stephen seems to be using your room as some sort of impromptu studio and has been up all night playing the same line from the same song over and over. The weather is absolutely foul but the cat has flounced out in disgust all the same. I'm sorry to tell you he's started eating Billy again, I don't know why. (The cat, that is, not Stephen.) I have acquired a water pistol. He lacks discipline.
Fame! Overheard in Morrisons store Troon,a conversation between two pensioners. "Have you read Kerry's Blog? I haven't missed an episode, it seems just like yesterday she was playing out the back door. now she is famous". Fame at last Kerry.
Pics Am loving all your photos and it is great just following your journey and experiences. Yes, it was amazing seeing you on that screen, out of all those people in that stadium, quite incredible. Hope you enjoy the next installment through Thailand and Cambodia. Gavin and Kerri enjoyed that part of their trip, found it really interesting and had no problems at all. Thought the people were just lovely.
It's still raining Hi, I can't tell you how strange it was to see you and Ross and Sarra on tv. But it was stange. I don't think I've ever waved at the tv before.
Do you need any help getting work in Austalia? I have a couple of friends who have worked in law firms there.
Lx
Gutted Do you mean to say that I watched the entire Olympic opening ceremony looking for you, and you weren't even there! Never mind, neither was Gordon Brown.
Some month, Kez. Good news! that you're mobile again, for a given value of mobile. I liked the shawl incident - very sweet - and the monsoon at the Taj Mahal queue story. And I don't know any of your male friends who would be childish enough to wander about a mausoleum bellowing things to hear the echo. (May contain lies.)
That last picture was never going to work. We all know your marriage to the Prince of Wales is as happy as could be.
It all looks pretty eye-opening. Maybe this is your route to becoming an earth mother.
I finally found that quote I was going on about:
"They were four clean cut young kids who were having lots of fun and they were driving Yossarian nuts. He could not make them understand that he was a crochety old fogey of 28. that he belonged to another generation, another era, another world, that having a good time bored him and was not worth the effort and that they bored him too. He could not make them shut up; they were worse than women. They had not brains enough to be introverted and repressed."
I hope you haven't given the address of this blog to your ex-flatmates. Also, your SAGA catalogue has arrived, btw. I'll just keep it here with your copies of The Oldie (and the Journal.)
Were you thinking about that Louis Theroux documentary? Did you decide you really owed it to yourself to start shooting animals?
I love that list guy. He sounds like someone I could really keep a straight face around.
Hi - we were there for 3 weeks - spent just over a week in Cape Town (and still didn't see everything) and the rest of the time we travelled via the Garden Route to Johannesburg which was really good, although felt a bit rushed. Where are you planning to go?
