Our second day in Ko Samui was very fun filled and exciting! We rented a motorbike to take around the island from our resort. Helmets on and two maps and we were on our way! Our first stop was the Big Buddha temple/wat. I had on a tank top and women/lady boys are required to have their shoulders covered, so I wore one of the shawls provided to tourists. It was funny to see the sign that said lady or lady boy must wear the shawl. Scott informed me that Thailand is actually the only country that recognizes three genders; women, men & lady boys. Of course I wasn’t going to leave Thailand without riding an elephant, so after the temple we were off to a waterfall hike where you can also ride elephants. We got ... read more

Our trip has been so amazing! The experiences have been endless and we have enjoyed every one of them! After arriving in Krabi on Ao Nang beach, we knew we weren't going to have enough time there since we only had 1 night. We jumped on a longtail boat and headed for Phranang beach. There, we hung out on the beach and got Thai massages! They said it was happy hour and it would be 200 bhat($6) for 30 minutes. As we were laying there, they realized how dry our feet were and begged us for a foot scrub. My feet were so bad that the Thai massagers came from all along the beach to gawk at my feet! Scott hates his feet being touched so he was uncomfortable the whole time during the foot scrub ... read more

It’s not all white sandy beaches and pina coladas anymore, we have now discovered the tough parts of traveling in a 3rd world country. The blog has been difficult to upload at times, with internet speeds as fast as a turtle and mosquitos buzzing around my head while I watch the upload…1%, 2%, 3%...well you get the picture. After sea kayaking yesterday, we decided to find a nicer restaurant on the island to celebrate Scott’s 32nd trip around the sun. We tried to get suggestions from the expats that we made friends with on the dive trip, but they were not accustomed to more expensive $12 meals. They told us Ciao Bella looked like a nice place right on the beach, so we took off to find this “nice place.” Scott ordered BBQ and I ordered ... read more

Another amazing 24 hrs in the books for us here on Phi Phi and sadly our time is coming to an end shortly. It is Scott’s birthday today and so far we have fit in a lot of great activities! It is about 5 pm here and we are just relaxing by the pool for the first time all day. After our longtail boat ride yesterday, we headed into town to try some local food that our friend Esteban recommended called Only Noodles. It was by far the BEST pad thai we had ever had and it was really cool to get a feel for where the locals go. After we were full of food and energy, we hiked to The Viewpoint, which was more like being on the stair master for 30 minutes then hiking. ... read more

Life in Thailand is still as great as ever. We managed to get a taxi in Phuket to the pier where the ferry leaves for Phi Phi Island. In the morning, we took it easy and went for a walk to Patong Beach in Phuket before leaving. While at the beach, we saw a man with a small pickup and a bunch of bottled water in the back. I asked if we could buy a big water and he resonded 80 bhat. That is about $2 which seemed crazy but we were both so thirsty we decided to do it. After paying him he handed us a bundle of 6 1.5 liter bottles of water! So good thing Scott has been lifting weights because he was stuck carrying it back to the hotel! After another crazy ... read more

After a few hours of sleep on a bed as hard on the stone floor, it was time for our first day of adventures. We found a great spot to eat breakfast and relax while watching all the craziness on the streets. With food and coffee we were ready for the day! We walked down the street to book a day tour of Phang Nga Bay. After totally butchering the pronunciation of Phang Nga Bay and the tour agent not having a clue what we were talking about, we finally got through to her that we wanted to see James Bond Island. After much hard work she got us into a group that was leaving in 1 hr, so we would have to take a tuk-tuk from our location in Patong to the marina to get ... read more

Wow, what a wild time the last 26 hours have been. My 1st long international flight was actually kind of nice. Of course, being 1st class helped matter tremendously. Being served a 5 course meal on an airport was never something I thought would happen! The flight was operated by Asiana Air and I have to say they were pretty amazing! All of the flight attendants were not only dressed alike, but had their hair all in the same small bun, same shoes, even the same earrings! They were so adorable I wanted to pack them up and bring them back to the states. After my belly was plenty full and I had some red wine, sleeping was no problem. I got about 4 hrs from Seattle to Seoul, watched 2 movies and had plenty of ... read more

Awakening to a 4am alarm with excitement today for the adventures that await me. Quick shower and last minute organizing made 5 o'clock home departure come quickly, then it was off to DIA via Dai's Honda Express. Being my 1st time experience as a VIP 1st class passenger, cutting in line at security was surely a pleasure. Then it was off to this "fairytale" land of DIA where there are no loud speaker announcements every 2 mins and breakfast and coffee are served! This my friends is known as the premier lounge. This made lounging around for 2 hrs waiting for my departure more bearable. Boarding the plane and having coffee, mimosas & delicious French toast served to me by a sweet blonde 50 something man proved to keep me awake for the duration of the ... read more
