Meeting God in Austria, Bavaria and Budapest

Greetings, Everyone!

Today I am off to Austria for a 3.5 week travel adventure through Central Europe. I will be blogging at http://formaedivinae.wordpress.com/ and invite you to travel with me there! A little bit about the purpose of my trip and the blog:
The What:
To practice the art of paying attention and to discover delight in the sheer pleasure of living and in so doing get a taste of life and life to the fullest!

I do not believe we have to leave our homes and fly to a foreign country to experience life to the fullest. However, travel facilitates some of the essential components for fullness of life. Travel heightens our awareness as it jostles us from our norm and makes us more attentive, observant and curious. When we travel we listen more and are better at just plain being.

What I have discovered is these essentials are also true when it comes to meeting God. As we slow down and allow for greater amounts of stillness in our lives we become more aware of God who has been with us all along, waiting and eager to be recognized.

The Why:
I believe God desires to meet us in every grand wonder and tiny detail of this magnificent world. Therefore, I'm preparing to write a book series I've imagined for a few years now called, "Meeting God". For example, this trip will focus on material for "Meeting God in Austria, Bavaria, and Budapest". In brief, it will be a book designed for small groups/families to learn about different cultures around the world and God's activity in them. Each chapter will include a recipe and blessing of thanks from the culture so the group can have a more full sensory experience as they engage the chapter's lesson.

So, I invite you to join me in meeting God while sipping coffee and people watching at little European cafés, enjoying decadent Viennese cake, exploring the fantastic castles of Bavaria and Budapest, basking in Baroque art, marveling at centuries-old churches, drinking in the smells and sights of sweet grass and wildflowers across lush landscapes, being carried along by the sounds of music from Mozart to Rodgers and Hammerstein, and even meeting God at an Austrian wedding!
