Good blog bud, any tips for our trip to Palawan? Hey mate, we're heading to Palawan next week and have some questions that you may or may not be able to answer:
1. Do you need to show a ticket for a trip out of the country when you arrive or is it ok to make this decision en route thru the Phillipines?
2. Did you do the whole island of Palawan or just PP to the north? Im interested in the south as well.
3. Seems like hostels are expensive and the choice is quite limited- do you have any suggestions on where to stay?
4. Is this place just a lazy beach place or are there some adventure tours?
Cheers, safe travels.
We're fans of your work. I had to laugh when you were talking about the cabs advertising air conditioning. We took the third class train from Bangkok to Kanchanburi and it was advertised as air conditioned....it turned out that meant the big two foot by three foot windows were open and they had a tiny three inch fan hanging from the ceiling above each row.
Definitions in other countries can be different than what we expect.
I guess we travel to experience these differences.

Sad to see things like baby monkies tied up :( saw it a couple of years ago when a woman was going round with a baby monkey trying to show off how cute he was, squeezing money out of tourists! makes you so angry!

Tanduay Rhum and Red Horse Now you're drinking like the locals! Good-priced drinks but very potent. Some discoveries while doing the rounds in the Philippines. Can't wait for your blog on El Nido. Have fun. Cheers!

Playa Del Carmen Thanks for the note Katie. I will be interested to know if you still agree that PDC is the best beach place in the World after you have completed your world tour. I am here until April 30th. It is so dreamy. Have fun!
KL Thanks for your comment Amira. Yes we have been told about many beautiful places outside of KL, and we will be returning to Malaysia later in April when we will be venturing outside of the city. We were staying with friends who had been living in the city nearly 2 years; they informed us that the beggars were mostly from outside of Malaysia. This is the same in pretty much city we have visited. We have seen so many places that we would like to visit in Malaysia, so we are not going to give up yet!
Hi there,
As a malaysian, i must say, even i dont fancy going to KL, although am studying not very far away from the city. Streets kids , beggars, rip off merchants bother many of us too, somehow, i guess the law enforcement is not as efficient as in Singapore. What a shame, i must admit. But many dont know that many of those street kids, and beggars are majority non malaysians. Many malaysians, (like me , at least) dont like going to KL for those reasons. And for the reasons , i never took my foreign friends to KL (except to Twin tower Petronas n KLCC). And i honestly dont understand why people want to go to KL. It is not really the attraction here, but ,,...well..i dont know.
Next time u are here, spend some time to Putrajaya or waterfalls nearby which is approximately only 40 minutes away from KL.
And yeah...the foods in KL are expensive.
Regards,
Amira
