Yikes! I cannot believe your teacher said/thought all that about U.S. history! I've been under the impression that French people are pretty well-informed about the US (and the world for that matter), and it's been true from what I've seen here so far. But yikes!
Colonists She also said the colonists in the first 13 colonies were mostly French and Spanish.
We only study the British because seat of democracy/revolution blah blah blah, but several of the colonies were primarily Spanish/French settlements, and so were several of the non original colonies (eg. Michigan and Florida), but she probably got that side of it being French.
Do you have a lover? haha Wow. And I feel like you did a good job with explaining the American flag because I honestly had no idea what the colors stood for and would've given the wrong impression of U.S. citizens. But I guess it's kinda too late for that after hearing that the explanation of mobile homes is on the agenda! I'm glad you're having fun!
I know how you feel about those Parisiens I can't remember if I told you this already, but when I bought my train ticket in Paris to Dunkerque, the ticket seller turned to me, looking unimpressed, and said, "Dunkerque is not a nice place." What is perhaps more bothersome, I have had several teachers apologize to me about Dunkerque and the cloudy rain! I like Dunkerque! I mean, it looks like MUCH of the city has been rebuilt since the 2nd World War, but I like it. It is a nice home pour moi! =) Come visit!
Super Chère Chloé,

Cool! Kate,
I love your blog! I too am happily ensconsed "en province," though at least my school allows internet access (sans YouTube or Skype). We've been doing lots of dinner parties and are going to see a movie soon. Excited to come see you! While Israel will be cool, remember, you'll be missing out on the French premier of "Les Sorciers de Waverly Place" as billboards remind me EVERYWHERE I go.

Your photos are beautiful. It certainly doesn't look like the West Virginia of France. Lucky for you. I was going to send you the soundtrack from Deliverance.
Kate
you should consider writing a book; your stories are so enjoyable - it makes me feel like I'm there. Have you read Eat Pray love by Elizabeth Gilbert? You could easily write a similar book about your adventures and all the people and places you encounter. Keep blogging - i'm so enjoying your adventures! take care - be safe.
