okay seriously scared me with the first half of this entry!!!! Kasey!! I can't even believe that happened to you! I'm so glad that everything worked out but how scary that must have been for you. I'm so proud of what you did while you were there and I am excited you are back and we are able to celebrate your birthday!
Thank you so much for your work! I spent time in Kenya last fall....there is so much need there and Kenya is not even the poorest country in Africa! You are doing wonderful work!
WOW! UNBEFREEKINLIEVABLE! Your namesake in Kenya. How awesome is THAT? You must have made a heckuvan impression on this madre.
I thought you were going to say, "She named her after me. Little Muzungu"!
Wow, Kasey! Sounds like you had an incredible day! I can't believe someone named their baby after you! Will you be able to get onto the plane with your huge ego now? :) Seriously though, that is so cool. I can't wait for you to get your Africanized-butt back here!
So I know I said Rome... So I know I said Rome but Ireland is def. a must see/hit when we have our wonderful adventures to Europe WHICH WILL HAPPEN DANGIT. Here's my plan: take out a crazy ridiculous loan so when I come back I can get a fancy job to pay for it all....for the next 10 years on the real salary I will have.
No but seriously, this sounds awesome Kasey!
hahaha So I def. just laughed out loud literally at your comments about the night club. All I could picture was us doing some sort of rendition of Spice Girl moves to techno only to go down a level and Salsa haha. How funny!
When you go back to Rome... Hey so whey you take that trip back to Rome consider me in. After reading about Laura's adventures when she was there and now yours it seems like the prettiest/coolest place ever. So seriously, let's go there super super soon! :)
the coolest So that officially sounds like the coolest thing ever! I want to see leopards! I hope you are having the time of your life, I know what you are doing now is rough but it's so interesting reading about the crazy life you are living right now!
These stories are crazy This is so crazy to read and think that this is actually going on somewhere in the world. You sit and complain about a bad tasting meal or being "starving" or having to go to work and then read this and realize that life is so different for these people.
It's fitting reading this after July 4th and realizing how truly blessed we ALL have it and how much we do take it for granted. I could not be more proud of you Kasey.
Just found out about your blog... Hey Kasey, for some reason I was outta the loop about your blogging. I sent you a facebook message too so if you get a chance while you are busy saving lives you should check it. This is my first one to read but I plan on going back to read more throughout the next couple of days.
This is so crazy to read. It's the kind of stuff that you only see on TV and never think about the full consequences. I'm sure it's a very very very hard situation to deal with and I hope that the situation can take some positive turn soon.
p.s. I'm super proud of you and think it's insane/awesome that you are doing this.
Wow, Kasey! This post was really interesting. I'm glad you are in the trenches and really seeing what is going on over there. Too many Americans take for granted all that we have here, and I experiences like yours are invaluable to appreciating our life here in the great US of A. I'm so proud of you, keep up the good work, and keep the stories coming! I miss you!
Not a downer Kasey;
Very real, and perhaps moving, but not a downer at all...especially considering that you are doing all you can to help. You make me extremely proud. We are heading out to explore Colorado for the weekend. Stay safe, work hard, and enjoy. ILY
Dad
Hang in there Please document, get pictures too, they are worth a thousand words, bring this info back to the US and put all your organizational skills to work and get the programs going that can help people in need. Document all you can. Get all the pictures and video you can, most people cannot relate as well to a written description. Put this experience to work for you. Try to start the programs you believe in. You are changing the world one person at a time and that is all anyone can do. Keep me posted.
Mom
miss you I have spent the whole night reading all your stories. It sounds like you are having the time of your life and at times it makes me sad I'm not there with you. I'm proud of the young woman you have turned into and have many fond memories of all the time I spent with you. Love you kiddo. Be safe
Just as Real Colorado Good Morning, Ms. Muzungu Nurse Kasey;
Great blog, as always. Sounds like the adventurous part of your adventure hasn't let up. That's fantastic. Unbelievable that you'll be delivering babies...and by the sound of the millions of people there, it's obvious that babies are born often! No work shortage in the labor/delivery room!
I think you'll really enjoy the rugby thing. Used to watch the rugby club at KU play once in a while. Those guys are crazy, and can keep a beer bar in business after the game is over.
We finally had some afternoon sun yesterday, and I had the day off, so we got to enjoy the pool and sun at the same time. It's been overcast and rainy about every day in June...so unlike Colorado. We're supposed to have as many sunny days as anywhere in the country, but this year it ain't happenin'...so far. We may pay in July...August...September...and beyond.
I'm back to California next week...Wednesday thru Friday. Nice short trip for once.
Enjoy your weekend/week, and keep in touch please...brief, but often! I love you.
Dad
Hi, Ms. Kasey! Hi, Kasey! Great as always to hear about your awesome adventures. I just flew in from California a while ago (and ARE MY ARMS TIRED!)...most of the time within Redwoods National Park. Unbelievably beautiful clear rivers and majestic trees! Great to be home though...with a free airline ticket for taking the bribe of taking a later flight.
I'm really happy to hear everything is going so well. All is well here to. Keep enjoying, stay safe, and keep in touch. Miss and love you.
Dad
Hi! Glad to hear you are safe and sound, Egypt sounds pretty interesting! Let us know how your work goes in Africa. I am babysitting T's cat who is the most affectionate creature I have ever met and also loves to jump up on every surface available. Bobo is having a ball! Be careful and stay in touch. Your car is fine, we really love driving it!
Can't wait for pics Bet you got some awesome pics, can't wait to see them! Have a safe trip to Africa and keep me posted as often as you can.
PS Your car is so totally fun to drive!
