Story Time! There once were two man-boys who travelled all night on a train from Bangkok to a small town names Pai. They arrived weary in this mountain town from all of there journeys, but when they searched for a place to rest there tired feet there was no room in the Inn! They wandered the streets searching for a room until they stumbled upon a kindly Inn keeper who said that he had a barn they could sleep in (a.k.a. a big room he hadn't cleaned in a month). This Inn's name was Edible Jazz and miraculously this barn after a little bit of elbow grease and a lot of cob web cleaning, and spider sweeping, and dusting, and new sheets, and new lightbulbs, and one night being convinced a huge spider was going ... read more

As we enter the last few weeks of our glorious, yet unrefined, journey through the southern heart of Asia it's time that we stopped and considered what Alex and I have learned thus far: 1) We don't like Tuk-Tuk's they Suck-Suck 2) Ping-pong shows in no way involve the sport 3) Tours are for Fools 4) We like bicycles and motos... as long as Alex stays on! 5) Eventually, a temple is really just another temple even if it is thousands of years old! 6) Vodka and Redbull are two substances created by satan, but oh they hurt so good! 7) Alex has way too much energy in the morning, and Josh has too much at night! 8) Don't buy an Olympus camera... ever... ever! 9) The best moments happen when you're lost... so we should ... read more

Cambodia is truly one of the most beautiful places on this planet, and yet so marred with disaster, kind of like Alex right now! We took a leisurely ''slow boat'' ride up the Mekong from the delta almost all of the way to Cambodia's capital Phomn Pehn. This ride, while being extremely long, has been one of my favorite parts of this trip. We finally had escaped out dreaded cities and were puttering up past the rural face of SE Asia. It was as if the facade had finally been removed and for once the harsh simplicity of these peoples lives was moving before us: the vivid green rice fields, the emaciated cows, the simple huts backdropped by massive temples. This pictureque scene was quickly engulfed with the huge urban sprawl of Phnom Pehn. Phnom ... read more

So we're about to bounce and dip out of our 4th Vietnamese city, Nha Trang. We spent the last two days in utter relaxation... Beach, mud baths, more beaches, then beach fires, then a boat cruise that included to much food, snorkling, and even more beach, then sleeping, then more beach.... I think you get the idea. We honestly have very little to share from Nha Trang except that we didn't like it quite as much as Hoi An. We spent our first day trying to see the city on moto bikes which was an epic saga of Alex and me losing each other twice, getting lost in the city forever, running out of gas twice, and all around being tired and frustrated! One of the few redeeming factors of our first day in Nha Trang ... read more

We've traveled through almost half of Vietnam now and are finally resting a bit in a beach twon named Hoi An. This last week has felt like life has been in fast forward, and Alex and I are definitely in need of a little beach time. As I have been traveling the past two weeks, it seems that every place I go I love more than the last. Korea was a society rooted in tradition, and was extremely formal when set against the backdrop of Vietnam. I loved Korea, but Vietnam is absolutely enthralling. I guess I could best describe this country as beautifully orchestrated chaos. Our first day in Ha Noi was fun, but a bit overwhelming as we attempted to grasp this entirely new culture in the midst of one of its craziest ... read more

Sorry for the delay on my writing an entry I have just been ripping for the past 4 days straight during which I believe I have slept a total of maybe 15 hours...Maybe! Korean has been a ridiculously fun/ very challenging/ a transforming experience! My flight was uneventful yet long, the most exciting part of that leg was eating sushi in the Tokyo airport. I only had an hour layover and was completely unsure of the exchange rate in Japan. Anyway long story short it was the best $45 plate of sushi in my life, I guess we live and we learn, right! So when I finally got to Korea I met one of Lindsey's friends at this random bus terminal and guess what the first thing I bought in Korea was..... a grande Latte! ... read more

So here I am about to move out of my crappy apartment next to my Alma Mater Seattle Pacific, and I guess this is the beginning of my journey. I have to get all my stuff to Bainbridge for the storage in the acclaimed chicken coop, and then crash on someone's couch until I leave on Monday the 7th. Right now I'm really ready to go, but there is so much to do in the next week I don't really feel like I'm actually leaving! But for those of you just tuning into my life here is a quick rundown of my plans for the next three months or so.... 1) Pack up and crash/house sit at the Chisums lovely condo until I leave on September 7th. 2) Fly out at 1:17 pm on September ... read more
