Ambitious Well done guys on your energy -hosting a home gardeners organics meet on your first day back. Who needs an unpacked car anyway? Central Australia is also a pretty good place to visit if you want to add that to your list of possibilities.
belated response This is an embarrassingly belated response. We kinda wrote this blog and got home and then didn't look at it again for a few years! But... yes, Central Australia is on our MUST do list :)
big girls now Glad to see the girls are so helpful now, driving, navigating and putting their own cots up. Holiday looks like it's doing you all good. Those goannas are really something aren't they?
Hello from France! Hey Dahna & Jono! How are you guys doing!
I'm in Barcelona, I'm pretty tired, I'm going to bed, so I'll keep it short. After 2 years in Vancouver, we came back to France in Sept 2011. Vancouver was great, but Europe is awesome! :)
It's great to see those pictures with the two little girls. They're so cute!
I hope you're doing well!
Take care,
Philippe & Lolo
well hello Well hello! Great to hear from you guys. I was just looking at that album you made us of our South America journeys and thinking about how fun it was and how it will be great to hook up with you guys again somewhere. Maybe in Europe! Love to you both xx oh, and yeah, home is pretty good huh?
So glad you're having such a great time, Dans, Jono, Ameya and Leila. Beaut pics and wonderful commentary Dans. What about a future career change to travel writer?
So hilarious to read over this a year later. I'm extremely happy you guys made it to the island w/me. Can't wait until I'm done nursing to some see you guys!

Good info. Good blog, we are currently looking into spending some time in the Amazon Jungle and have been deciding between San Miguel and a couple of other eco/ethno lodges. Thanks for the account of your trip and the tips. It has helped make up our mind. Plus after a few years out of country Queensland it would be nice to experience that layed back style of life again.
Welcome to France! Hello guys!
I hope you enjoye the time in Canada. I am sur you did!
Don't hesitate to spot in France before Australia....
I hope we will see you again soon: Australia, France or Canada???
Enjoy. Best Luck

Peru My family and I just got back from Peru too. I noticed that you also went to the Machu Pichu. Aren't the markets interesting? Definetly not what we were used to. Did you guys stay overnight there? We stayed at the Sumaq Hotel. I heard it is the only 4 star hotel in Peru. If you ever go back it worth it stay there. We booked our vacation through www.peru-inc.com. They really know how to cater their clients. No problems at all. Check them out.
Hey, i've been meaning to say...we recently took out a sub to National Geographic, and last month there was a big article on the political situation in Bolivia (and lots of good pics) and this month there is a pic of the Road of Death from La Paz. So I've been thinking of you folks a lot!
oooopsadaisy the date stamp is so far ahead because I am in holiday head space and date challenged! Thanks for pointing that out to me! haha. It is fixed now.
We both still have ever-itchy feet and woke up in a cold sweat one morning with the realisation that if we did not take advantage of the under 30 (ish) work visa that Canada offers to Australian residents, we would never get to. So here we are over 17 months later, taking the long way home via South America. No need to rush...
Post Script: We are now 4, not 2, and we are no longer under 30! We still have ever-itchy feet but also a mortgage to contend with so for the most part our travels from now on will probably be a little shorter in duration... but they will continue!... full info
