This week I got to visit Kiev, a city that I have wanted to visit since I began studying Russian, and a place that I have wanted to see since beginning to learn about Cold War history, Chernobyl. In Kiev, I got to visit many different churches, including one built on a small island in the Dneiper river, Independence Square, Arch of the Friendship of Nations and got to overlook the city of Kiev from an observation deck. In Chernobyl, I got to see many of the places that are well known from the exclusion zone, such as the Ferris wheel, the pool, the Energetic square, Pripyat and its welcome sign, some of the villages outside of Pripyat, the new Sarcophagus, the Dyga 1 "Woodpecker" Over the Horizon Radar system, and the Chernobyl sign, I also
