We had decided to stay another nite at Drotsky's so we booked the boat for the second day, to continue on our fishing "success". Our guide was exceptionally good. Adrian lost one on the first cast. But Alex lost 4 that morning. I got my second tiger fish , but many more were lost that morning. We went back to camp at about lunch time to have food. We swam some more and then relaxed at the bar before the fishing started. The afternoon we lost a few more fish, but that didn't really matter the sunset was something very different. At about 5pm the sun disappeared behind some clouds. And until 6:30pm it was just an orange ball, the humidity was there but the heat wasn't which made it a pleasant afternoon for the fishing. ... read more

We all got out of bed quite early because we had booked a boat for the day for fishing and bird watching. The fishing was amazing with everyone catching at least 1 fish with the exception of me, I cauaght nothing. The strangest thing that happened was that Dylan and Dad had caught barbell (catfish) with a Rapala(that we found floating in the zambzi river while on the house boats) which nobody had ever heard off before. We headed back to camp for lunch, a beer and an ice cold swim which was amazing due to the fact that it was so hot. At 14:00 we made our way back to the boat and continued to fish and bird watch. After an eventful fishing session that involved a lot more fish getting caught and a lot ... read more

Had a casual breakfast some cereal and yoghurt. Quickly packed up and drove for the border. The border crossing was simple and quick and we were back in botswana. A short drive from the border is Drotskys. It is a nice stop, lovely lodges, a proper pool. The day was short we messed around at the camp for a bit then headed to the pool for a swim as it was 37 degrees Celsius. A stinking hot day. The pool was flippen freezing until you were in for a while then it got better but it was lekker refreshing. And by the looks of it there will be curry for supper. Adrian's quote for the day: human insanity goes a long way.Dylan... read more

This entry will be quiet short due to the fact that it was a very relaxed day. We woke up quiet late and started with a healthy breakfast of egg and left over braai meat. We went on a short game drive and saw the usual animal except for seeing an ostrich with 6 little babies which look like balls of wool with legs and necks. We came back and spent the rest of the day around the pool chatting with people and for dinner, Adrian treated us to a amazing meal at the restaurant. Alex... read more

During the nite we were visited by elephants again, but this time the whole herd was walking through the camp, and around the tents it was brilliant. but this time alex and myself just slept through it.We spent the morning on the river which was spectacular. We say many different types of birds and managed to watch 2 hippo fighting for territory. Man that was something else. Blood flying everywhere but their sheer size and strength and speed!!! After we got back we packed up and left for Ngepi. But a unanimous decision was announced that Nambwa has been the best camp site we have stayed at so far in terms of beauty and things to see. When we arrived at Ngepi, we were very surprised! There are funny signs while driving to the camp, the ... read more

None of us got out of bed in an rush because we all had a restless night. After a very nice breakfast, we decided to go on a game drive and i wanted to stay behind due to being sick of driving and i really wanted to catch a fish. On the game drive they saw elephants but the sheer amount of elephant was amazing and extremely frighting and due to there being so many elephants, the game drive was cut short because of the road being blocked for to long. After a slow morning i had finally managed to catch a 3kg barbel ( its similar to a catfish). We made friends with the family staying next to us and we enjoyed a beer around the braai while we exchanged stories of our adventures on ... read more

Woke up early on the 28th August as we wanted to get the day going because we had a lot to do. We had to do shopping and pack the boat with things from the trailer. So Sean missioned into town to do shopping and get more cooking gas. The rest of us sorted out the boat we were going to be staying on. Ok so the boat isn't that big. If you know the size of a roof top tent when it is open, it is 2 of those in length and about 2 meters wide. It is double story, 2 roof top tents for sleeping in on top and a kitchen, table/ beds and benches, toilet and shower on the bottom. It has a 60 HP engine to power it and it comes with ... read more

We were all reluctant to get out of bed after the people in the tent next to us decided to make as much noise as they could at 4am and then leave for a game drive. After a slow morning and a nice breakfast, we packet up had a hot shower and left in the direction of the Caprivi river lodge. The drive was not to bad except for the temperature which was so hot, it felt as if we were all melting. We found the lodge wit ease and all of us were shocked. The chalets were amazing with hot showers and a toilet that actually work properly. There was also a pool, a dinning room with bar that is covered by a boma and best of all there were 2 hammocks WHICH WERE EXTREMELY ... read more

So we had a 2 nite sleep, a day to rest well sort of. We woke up and decided to visit Chobe National Park. It is dry, like desert dry and super hot (24 degrees at 9:30). So we decided to drive along the water front where it is greener and way more animals. We saw huge herds of buffalo and elephant, a few kudu, impala and 1 crazy zebra. we had brunch at the Sedudu picnic site. Nana you were missed here, it was a magnificent spot on the river. After lunch we headed back the the campsite to swim and do some washing. At 3 pm we boarded a cruising boat for a guided trip down the Chobe river. Despite the size of the boat we got extraordinarily close to elephant, hippo, buffalo and ... read more

After a interesting night in the bush in terms of animals, we were all up early because we had a long drive ahead of us. After a quick and simple breakfast, we packet up and left in the direction of Kasane. The road was extremely difficult due to the sand being so soft and deep but it was still an awesome experience with minimal problems except for the fact that we got stuck but we were on our way again in very little time. The parks here are extremely over priced but it is still good value for money in terms of animals to be seen.We had seen quite a large amount of animals like herds of Elephant, a few Giraffe and some lonely looking Kudu that all looked very desprate for water. We arrived at ... read more
