I am currently on a Youth Exchange to Brasil, and decided to start this blog in order to be able to write about the interesting things that I encounter along the way at the time of, instead of a few days later.

So, It's been over a month since my last blog update, so I guess it might just be time for me to write again. I've returned, just two weeks ago from one of the most amazing months one could possibly hope to have. I saw some sights that can not be described. And pictures just don't do them justice. It was a month to remember for sure.. Really, What can possibly beat a group of 50 exchange students stuffed into a bus for a month, with side stops at a few beaches, a bunch of city tours.. and a few other attractions too. It was a month of making new friends, seeing new places, and making new memories, it was a month I wish I never had to forget a moment of. Our month included Northeastern ... read more

A trip of a lifetime. INSIDE a trip of a lifetime. That's what I'm about to embark on. It's one month in the entire Northeastern Brasil. All exchange students... It's going too rock. ... read more

So today I didn't go to my normal school. As an exchange student in Brasil my school has to be a private school. But today I went to watch classes at a public school. I think the public school's classes actually reminded me more of school back home then my private school ever could. Students were talking during presentations, and while the teachers were talking, the only time the majority of the class payed any attention was when they were going to hand in an assignment... and they had what I think was a spare class. The day went by faster then I ever imagined a day that starts at 6:00 am could ever go. Meanwhile normally while I'm at school, everyone is quite while the teacher talks. Sometimes even while the teacher isn't. They ... read more

I arrived back in my city in Brasil after a few days away in a city about four hours away.. or six if your traveling by bus. It's a very long trip either way. The city I went to was named Ibitinga, and is a fairly small for a Brasillian city having just 50,000 inhabitants. Anyways, while I was there I was able to spend time with around 20 other exchange students, which always means that it's going to be a fun time. The reason I went to this other city was to take part in a competition. It was a walk with checkpoints, the idea was to arrive at the checkpoints on time. Not before and not after. To arrived before you gained two points for every second, to arrive after you gained one point ... read more

Today I arrived back home in Jales after a few days away. In just one day I was in three different states of Brasil. Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso and Goias. Where did I go? I went to my families farm in Goias. It was very interesting, right from the start... Just on the way to the farm I got to see not just one, but two anteaters! I was very excited... At the farm I got to see many extremely cool sights! I don't even know how to put most of them into words, so most of this blog will only be pictures. One thing that I do want to put into words is the fact that I rode a horse!!! On my own free will! ... read more

So after much debate (and questioning from my mother) I decided that I should maybe actually start this blog. I have now been in Brasil for two wonderful months, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I've tried and done many things that are not available back home, and it's been such an eye opening experience. Thus far I have not traveled far away from Jales, but that will change. Thus far in my trip I've gone to a fifteenth birthday party, which here is a very big deal, and this was extremely extravagant. I've tried Churrasco, Brazilian BBQ, multiple times. I've gotten addicted to Ice Cream, but who wouldn't with flavors like kinder egg, and Ferror Roche? Been to a Hawaiian Ball, where I apparently got my photo in the local newspaper, which I have ... read more
