This is a great journal; thoroughly riveting and much better written than most out there. Wonderful to read as well as being insightful for people looking to visit these places.

Wow just WOW!
I loved every part of this blog, what an awesome experience. Your descriptive writing of the silverback is lovely...did you feel amongst cousins? - if you ever find out how one appreciates a guide physically please let me know :)

Survival guide to Kampala and Bodas
Loved your blog...."Many Boda drivers are intelligent, educated men who due to lack of economic opportunities simply can’t find a better job at the moment. Some are homicidal maniacs. It’s hard to tell the difference."

sweet sweet memories
hahaha! jenny that was a lovely walk down memory lane. had my first boda experience in Kampala, spent the whole trip clenching my butt cheeks imagining scrapped shins and knees, but all good. great article. good times.

Excellent travel attitude!
I was laughing out loud reading your blog--love your writing and your whatever attitude which certainly makes travel and blog reading more fun. And if you're writing about a trip two months ago, you're doing better than I who am procrastinating writing about the last six months. Hope you're all speaking at the end of your journey!

You are a true TBer if the first thing you miss...
from your lost computer is the unsent blogs! Your heart is in the right place. I'm glad you got it back and are now taking your responsibilities to our community seriously. P.S. By entering the date of the events covered by your blog, they will end up in chronological order...but any order will do so long as you keep on blogging. Your writing style is entertaining. I did some construction management in Uganda in October 2008 (I blogged the trip). As an engineer who wants order and efficiency, I found the country frustrating...but beautiful. And it didn't help that I sat in the back row of a minivan; whenever it hit a pot hole, which is every few seconds, my head hit the roof.

Ah Zanzibar
An idyllic locale...the name says it all. Paje sounds serene. Hope you don't strike big seas on your return to Dar...won't be as blissful as your blog if you do.

Your descriptive writing isn't shit...
it's brilliant...but you know that. And your new profile picture...appropriate for your new location...does bear out your description of the blinding sunlight...a bit over exposed, but that's just right. It's great to have you back after three years of being away. I had Followed you back then, but then dropped you when you stopped blogging after a couple years. My mistake and I've learned...I won't drop others that I Follow either, hoping someday they also return.

Pictures and Kindles
Some stunning pictures, makes me want to go there. If I could pack every book I wanted and might want we would need several articulated lorries following behind us, thank god for the Kindle which fits into such a small place :)

Be brave!
After many years in the travel industry with many and frequent flights, I too developed aviophobia. In my mind, the law of averages said that a plane that would one day go down when it was meant to go up, I guess. Facing the irrational fear, as you've done, is the only cure, isn't it? Almost as brave, was to visit the lovely island of Zanzibar just two weeks after that terrible acid attack on the two British teenagers. Do I hear 'Hakuna matata'?
