gothic All I can say is that those Victorians knew how to build in the gothic style. It is our favourite as you will have realised when you have read our blogs on Sienna, Orvieto we hunt out Gothic and feel sad when it has been baroqued .
Yummy Perpendicular Gothic! Excellent tour! Since I'm rather adverse to waiting in long, conga lines and L25 entrance fees, I never visited when in London, but thanks to your fine descriptions, I feel as if I've been there. I was also surprised to see your photo of Cromwell, then realized that since it's outside of parliament (and not Buckingham Palace), perhaps it's to inspire the parliamentarians to remember the common people. Thanks for the fine history of the place too.
parliament Hi Tara I was lucky to get in free as I am a civil servant and the department of work and pensions were given some dates when staff could go and see the palace of Westminster and visit our HQ Caxton House. Fascinating day and like you I am in love with gothic whether it be medieval or Victorian. all the same to me wonderful and exciting. Cromwell well I was shocked to see it there but what a man. Worth the tour and I would go again but shame I couldnt do any photos inside . If you have read any other blogs you will see that Glenn and I are in love with this style or architecture and love it in France, Spain or Italy .
ends of holidays and times to start planning the next one. Reminds me of gardening in the winter you read the plant books as you cant get in the garden and plan your next plantings. I hope you get to Italy and I look forward to reading about your trip
insurance Hi bob yes we have travel insurance but sadly it only covers up to £250 or £300 per item less the excess which is about £50. So all in all we probably have lost about £400 which we cannot recoup . Still small problem things could have been a lot worse . It was pretty awful but part of lifes rich tapestry I guess
What is Suzy? Just read a couple of entries - trying to figure out what "suzy" is - is it a boat, a trailer or something else? Just wondering and figured it would be easiest to ask.
Glad to hear that you are safe Just read your entry - mother nature definitely makes us stop and think at times of what we take for granted and that we need to be thankful for each day that we have. You have the right attitude though that you need to continue your travels and enjoy each day as they come
our trip Thanks for the comments . I think that the only way to think is that things work out, its an experience and park it and move on to the next adventure.
What a tale! Wow, that was a close call! Glad you two are alright, except for camera and hearing aids! I rather like natural disasters because they are so exciting and afterwards, they make great stories as this was. Hope the rest of your Italian journey is filled with tea time as sweet as this one, before the storm.
fantastic cakes mmmmm it was sweet and the memory will linger on for a long time on the bomba aqua and the tea in style . Those cakes were lovely . I like a cake or two :)
A 70 something who feels that the world is her lobster, that life is worth living and that you only get one shot at it . A whole new world opened up since we bought Suzy. A different view out of the window every day and the chance to see life in all its glory. And then there is Sion our travelling companion. A knowledgeable sheep who with his Sheep Book of Facts keeps us on our toes. He and his bestest, bestest friend Woolly Mammoth search the world for latrines, roofs and manhole covers. What more could you want out of life?
