When we feel like "cultural substance" we can always travel....
Glad to see you're back on the buses - do they do Bingo in Canada?
And just a little thought - the only bear we saw up fairly close - was on a beach!
Good luck in Toronto.
Hey, great to hear from you. We're just finishing our Italian holiday - leaving Rome tomorrow, for home (via London and Kuala Lumpur - don't ask).
Will be in touch from home - lots of love, and ciao. Mum and Dad xxx

regarding buildings unknown saludos. i've thoroughly enjoyed reading your many adventures, and your fat man in india made me laugh out loud. i'm glad you seemed to have enjoyed your time in chile, despite the fact that it came at a price--literally! i just wanted to add that the unkown public building with the water is called La Moneda (the mint, as in minting coins), and is the presidential palace of chile. the president doesn't actually live there but it is the headquarters of the executive branch of government. it is one of the few colonial buildings in santiago (the rest having falled due to earthquakes or the shortsightedness of man in years past) and was originally a mint for spain during colonial times. it was bombed by jets during the september 11th military coup in 1973 (pinochet) and the socialist president salvador allende committed suicide inside with a rifle given to him by castro rather than surrender to the military authorities. anyway, enjoy the rest of your travels.
Happy end of the year! Hi you two
Thanks for more great stories and photos. I am sorry to hear about your Kirk Cameron torture...hopefully the singing holes cleansed your soiled spirits again. Guess that comes with travelling in Catholic countries. You may have heard that Mary McKillop's second mircle has just been recognised by the Pope. Whatever good that will do. Blame Rome, I say, the church has a lot to answer for. Yours, lapsed ;-)
Season's hugs to you both

Yippee for dancing salsa in torrential rain - you two are now even jumped up the already highly elevated cool scale! Those Venezuelans are way too soft - bah humbug to being dry and warm and comfortable! Shown up by the Aussie's I say! Although, we did start to realise the folly to some of these perceptions of ours when caught during monsoon season in Equador - and when you have gone through you 3rd saturated outfit for the last 2 days - there's not much else to wear! Plus, your backpack, handbag and daypacks are saturated, your one pair of boots are are giving you blisters because they are always wet when you put them on, you slipped over in your thongs and broke them, your hunched over your camera - stressing that its getting wet, and the bloody buses don't care that you shivering to the core from running through the streets trying to escape the downpour and speed up when they get near - sending a wall of water over the top of you! Ahhhh, so what was I saying again?
Hee hee - It all sounds so wonderful and makes me smile at the Good Times being had! That snorkelling sounds fabo! Truley beautiful! Brilliant that you guys have an underwater camera! That's something we needed - we did put the camera in a plastic bag at times - but the results were pretty lame! Oh well have to reply on memory for those ones. Sounds like tops time in the National Park in Venezuela - ahh, it's starting to warm up here enough to go swimming except for the water - eek it's way to cold. But come-on please, secluded swimming spot, don't think that we don't all know what is meant by ....
:-) Lots of love to you both! xxx
wow!!! this looks like such....fun. i saw this on the tv not that long ago, and find that it is interesting that you sound just like getaway (although without the make up and background music).

Glad you liked the view from Christ the Redeemer Statue - I thought the view of Rio gave Sydney harbour some competition. Also Iguacu Falls - absolutely fantastic.
