So yesterday I decided to eat lunch by myself so I could learn how to handle restaurant situations. I decided to go to Aijisen Ramen because A. It's clean, B. It's familiar, and C. I wanted a lot of food to satisfy my hunger. If I picked a random restaurant on the street I could end up eating really shitty food and possibly something that I don't even want or would not want to eat. I did not have any problems getting a table and no one stared at me since I am Chinese. I decided to go to RT mart afterwards to get some hangers and the funniest thing I saw was a stand that was giving out sample Kahula shots :-O. I had my Tai-Chi class that afternoon and guess what...I am the only ... read more

So last night I went out with a group of USACers for dinner and a night of festivities. One of the guys from fall semester took us around and we decided to be "economical" and eat at a local restaurant on the street. My first impression was "damn that place looks dirty". In short, when I traveled to Spain we ate out in the cuts and I ended up losing 6 lbs...the rest is self-explanatory. We ordered some random dishes, but the best was the xiaolongbao. In fact, we ended up eating lunch there today. After dinner, we decided to go to a lounge in People's Square called Barbarosa. Before we left for Barbarosa, we made sure that ... read more

The plan ride was really long, but it seemed like it went by a lot faster than the last time I traveled to Asia. I have to say that my first "cultural experience" happened on the airplane. I sat down in my seat and this young Chinese couple was staring at me. Eventually the woman made eye contact with me and started talking to me in Chinese. What she wanted was to switch seats with her husband so she would be able to sit with her husband. (strike one for not being able to speak the language). I decided to switch with her husband so that they could sit together, in return she gave ... read more

Hello! I have set up this blog to keep friends and family updated on my study abroad experience in Shanghai. Now you can stalk me and make sure that I'm behaving ;-D. This blog will probably end when I come back to the states because there is no way in hell that I will have time to bullshit about myself when I'm in pharmacy school. Yeah it's kind of early to start this being that there is approximately 11 days before departure, but I posted a rant about Housing and Greek Life at UOP on my facebook and one of my friends suggested that I use it as an "ice-breaker" for this blog. In a way it does relate to my study abroad experience, so what the hell right? I have to say that the Housing ... read more
