We took an extra day in Flagstaff to drive down through Oak Creek Canyon and on into Sedona. Although the day was a bit overcast, we saw and photographed some beautiful colors. We then went over to Montezuma's Castle and Montezuma's Well.... read more

Our route to the Grand Canyon took us right by Hoover Dam. It had been years since we had seen the dam, and neither of us had seen the new bridge there. So we stopped there for a new "look-see" and I walked across the new bridge.....it is very high and has a perfect view of the dam site. It's great to see these 2 wonderful, man-made creations next to each other. After that we drove on to The Grand Canyon NP. We spent 2 nights there at the South rim. I hiked down into the canyon for a mile one day (my profile picture was taken there). We left the park out the East entrance and went to Flagstaff.... read more

This was a 2 day journey from Sacramento with an overnight on the way in Bakersfield. We spent 2 nights here right off the strip. Photos are of LV and Red Rock Canyon. We had never spent any time in LV before and wanted to see it, if only for this time. We were not interested in any of the gaming activities, but we were wanting to see what the allure LV has on so many people. We saw and learned much while not winning or losing a penny. It was interesting to see, but there are many other places in the world we plan to see before we visit here again. Red Rock Canyon is close by and is wonderful. It would be interesting to explore it and other nearby natural areas in more detail. ... read more

I've taken a few walks around here and have included a few pictures from along the American River. Yesterday we went down to the Nimbus Dam fish hatchery and saw many big salmon coming up the fish ladder.... read more

As most of you remember, last year when we did our first snowbirding adventure (Snowbirding 101), it was done quite differently than what you see this year. We travelled for our 15 weeks with a 27 1/2 foot trailer behind our pickup. Susie didn't care for trailer living for such a long time, and I didn't like being responsible for a combined length of 47+ feet wherever we went. So this year we are travelling "liteweight" and staying in motels while on the road, and apartments and condos when settled in for a period of time. The savings in gas costs should make up for the higher "rent" costs......at least that's the plan. This year our plan is to take about 3 1/2 weeks to wind our way down to the southern tip of Texas. We ... read more
