Travelling Hello,
Me and a friend are planning on going to Ashgabat by airplane and the further on to Samarkand, I was just wondering if you have any idea about how to travel to Samarkand? Do you know whether there are any busses/trains or else vehicles (preferrably not flights) going this way? Do you know where to find more info on this topic? Please answer by sending an email.
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Daniel Lumparn
home Welcome home to you both. You have been missed a great deal but in a way we have been with you every inch of the way and cant wait to hear all about it.All love Carol and Rod
Welcome Home You must be exhausted and glad to get back to running water, flush toilets, showers and baths, and your own bed, but with wonderful memories of your excursion. I will be fascinated to hear a detailed report at some point. Your running accounts have been wonderful - most descriptive.
Love, Vicki
Wow! All sounds mind blowingly wonderful! How are you going to return to normality after this trip?!?!? Proper roads, loads of traffic, no smells, lots of rain, Gordon Brown all await you!
And your friends.........................................
love and hugs to you both
Tina and Bruce xxx
Great to read another amazing report and know you are still experiencing a lot of Wow factor. It's good that you will have so many pictures to sort out on return, it will help you come down to earth again while you relive it. I am sure it will take a while to absorb all the sights and sounds into lovely memories. Hope the nausea doesn't return as you get to Base Camp. It's getting quite autumnal here, heavy dew in the morning, and nights drawing in, although we are promised a bit more sun this week. We thought we'd look out for the meteor showers this week, so think of us on a hill somewhere looking north east! Love Di and John
chips ??? Chips Margaret? What will Ian say? Did you know that Longs in Wimborne are doing buy one portion of Cod and Chips
get one free, at the moment. Can I book you both to do a fundraising event in the Hall one evening. I am sure it would raise money for some cause very dear to your heart now you have witnessed such spectacular scenery and met such lovely people. We all look forward to seeing masses of pictures and hearing about the trip warts and all.
See you very soon, Oliver and Sarah's wedding on Saturday! love Carol and Rod x
AT the top of the world I'm just fascinated by your very descriptive details of your adventure which brings so much to life. I, for one, am definitely interested in seeing the photographs - along with a narration - and can well imagine that it will take more than one or two evenings. Love, Vicki
Over the hills and far away ! Thank you for sending us the glorious photos but you seem so far away! Will you ever want to return to see us all.
We could really capture the still cold atmosphere in the picture of the Lake where you camped. As I write the rain courses down
my window. Everyone sends love from rainy Dorset. So good to see Helen at the weekend, she looks as beautiful as ever.
Take care and come back one day.All love Carol and Rod
Surpassing your expectations Well done on your outstanding reports on the last two legs of the trip. It is probably good that the scenery has changed completely now from minarets to mountains to keep the variety going. We are glad that your health, energy and enthusiasm are keeping up. To judge from your vivid descriptions the whole experience is probably surpassing your expectations. You are also getting a taste for strong liquor! Yellowtail will never be the same after this. After our little bit of welcome heat here it has all gone pear-shaped with the Jet Stream getting stuck over us again as school holidays start. Really heavy rain showers, then hot sun, so you don't know what to wear or whether to be indoors or in the garden. I'm afraid MP expenses have been replaced by increase in Swine Flu and the serious situation on Afghanistan. Lots of love Di and John
Another WOW installment Your comments are fascinating and I'm learning so much about this region of the country - and it all sounds much more liveable and reasonable than we read in the newspapers. You should be writing for the press and giving a true to life picture of what the country is really all about. I always look forward to the next update - this is much better than any soap opera!!! Love, Vicki
Terrific! Hi Both - pleased you're safe - any jelly bellies yet?? All looks awe inspiring and wonderful - don't envy the two day trip in the desert! Yes, we're having hot weather - but hasn't reached the 40's yet!!! Actually it's pissed with rain today - a relief - no watering the veg needed AND we are beginning to eat them. It's Mike's 40th today, so they've been here for a couple of nights and off to that posh hotel near Sandbanks ferry tonight. We gave him a couple of hours surfing tuition, so he's a very happy boy! Up to Amanda's at the weekend, as George is being christened. Taking up the reat grandparents, so loo stops will be every hour - think the raised toilet seat has to go too! Oh what joy!!
Continue to have fun and lots of adventures
Lots love and hugs

From Dorset At last another wonderful update on your travels.I felt the hot breath of the desert and also the hot breath of the camels, you bring it to life for us.You both look as if you have lost weight? Is that what it takes? Weight watchers on a bus!
Yes it has been warm here and the months are speeding by.Today is Rod's 58 th birthday and its Monday so work as usual for him and me.We are going to a Concert this evening in Wimborne, Rod's choice and follow up with a take away!
Holtwood fete last Saturday was fun making £2,260 and having good local support. Sarah brought her Mum down last weekend and we enjoyed her company, taking her on a trip round the Purbecks and supper out in the evening.Oliver and Sarah collected their wedding rings from Corfe Castle Jewellers ( Fair Trade , of course CRED )
Daniel has passed an all importeant Trailer test which will add to his driving CV and also to his confidence. We are enormously proud of his achievement. My Mum has just returned from Lake Garda with an elderly chum having enjoyed the week.
Take care and much love from us both xx

Tabitha's Travels Having a lovely time in Devon, lots of free-range organic mice, natives friendly, wish you were here. Have some photos, where shall I send them. Tabitha x.
Whole family are enjoying your blog, Jeanne.
Something to tell your Grandchildren Talk about being where the action is ! We have been watching the news
and are very glad to hear that you are both well and that you have been looked after. The National Jewell museum sounded fantastic and you will have to describe it to us on return.
Rod and I have been down to Cornwall to stay with Rose and Mike who have put in an offer on a little house in Plymouth. We wait with interest to see if the survery confirms the offer of a mortgage!! Lots of decorating and gardening to do. Keep enjoying and storing up wonderful memories.
Loads of love Carol and Rod x
Dear Margaret and James - I feel like you won't be the only ones to have gained from this trip , we are learning so much about the places you are visiting and why you wanted to go there. I could just do with some sparkly fabric to tone in with my wedding outfit!. We are relieved you are away from Tehran though, our esteemed BBC Correspondents are now talking about the smell of tear gas and further trouble. Can't believe you've been gone a month. It's the longest day here and rather dull for sitting out to watch the sunset. Lots of love Di and John
Only just realised that you are away on such an exciting trip, very jealous. Glad you are having such a good time you deserve it. Wil certainly be coming back to check your blog regularly. God Bless you in your travels xx
waiting for news Hi James and Margaret, work pretty awful here in Dorset . cannot wait to be in your shoes, but pictures of our five month
old granddaughter make all the difference. Rod is at Stewards meeting of Holtwood Methodist Church as he is now Senior S
and I am left behind cleaning the house. I hope you are looking after each other and we will have to have an evening of
film, pics and description of your journey when you get back. Looking forward to meeting up with Zena and Chris on the walk in
september. with our love Carol and Rose and Mike ( also Dave and Fra )
So glad to hear everything is still going well - we had been thinking about you when the election results were announced and news of the riots. But glad to hear you are getting some luxury amidst the roughing it.
Love Di and John
Safe and Sound Yes, we have been concerned as there has been many interesting news articles on TV. The weeks are flying past
and you are obviously having the BEST time.Work here is dire at the moment and today I went online to gaze at pictures of your
travels. Singapore Airways are offering very cheap flights to OZ and their website crashed as soon as I got onto it as I hope to go
again in March 2010.I will keep trying!
We are thinking so especially of a little two year old girl called Isabelle who is very poorly indeed at the moment and is in Southampton
Hospital undergoing Chemotherapy.Grandma lives at Hinton Martell.Jenny, Grandma , is very grateful fo all the care shown.
Rod and I are going down to Saltash at the weekend to stay with Rose and Mike. Rose is singing in a Choir which she has joined. They are
house hunting and Rose is job hunting again. However, she remains very happy and they are good together. Mike is heavily into extra exam
marking to swell their funds.
We all look forward to seeing new photos of the next installment and ask that you keep well and that Our God goes with you.? Remember Dave Allen.
love to u both x Rod and Carol
What cool travellers! Hello, well, we weren't worried because we thought you'd already left! So now we are worried that you have another day to go! I'm reading a book about Iran at the moment and it's fascinating. Did you get to Persepolis? The author also says that crossing the roads are certainly an ordeal....it's great that between the Odhams' reporting and this story, we don't have to visit the place ourselves. Continue having a terrific time and enjoy the hotel comforts while you can. Keep safe out there. Lol ZnCxxxx
