Hay guys, glad you made it and it looks like you had an awesome time. It took me a long time to find Emmanuel. He really is a good guide, happy to see you decided to follow my advice. Hope you said hi to him from me. Did you get the chance to visit the other volcano? Safe travels... Come to Ethiopia, the Danakil Depression is supposed to be more amazing than Nyiragongo!

Now this is a blog I’ve enjoyed reading as I have always and (I can’t stress that enough) wanted to be exactly where you are actually seeing my favorite species in it’s natural habitat. What an amazing creature with such unbelievable talents that we don’t realize we are in the midst of an honor until we are in their presence. I’ve always thought it amazing and arrogant that the human species has formulated even throughout the scientific community that we are the only creatures that feel emotion. That we have the highest intelligence on the planet, ok I ask myself prove it. I’m enjoying a lovely book called “When Elephants Weep” written by Dr. Jeffery Masson. He explores a side of science where most of his colleagues would stone him. He goes into the emotions of various other species at length and it is a truly amazing read. Back to Gorillas, I can’t tell you when my love affair started but I know it was when I was a child. I used to cry at the zoo as I watched these magnificent creatures sitting in cages knowing by their eyes that their misery was beyond words. I write for a film blog so during my travels I do extensive research on my subject matter, as that is just the way I am. The next topic we are doing is “Gorillas in the Mist” and the life of Diane Fossey as she is such an inspiration. Luckily, I found the technology to allow me to do this because without it I’d probably have to shut the blog down. I got my hands on some awesome technology called the Sling Adapter available through Dish Network free thru a rebate to qualifying new and existing customers, which has changed an important part of my life. The DISH Remote Access app is free and downloads to iPads, laptops, and Smartphone’s plus there are no additional monthly charges and it is really that simple. It has given me the ability to have unlimited access to all my subscription programming and I need those movies. With the online content I can get tons of movies and thousands of TV episodes but I can also schedule my DVR events remotely if need be and utilize the recordings. I found it strange that other companies restrict programming to their customers, charge for the app and the Sling technology. This technology is important because allows my creative side to blossom. My work for Dish Network will always require travel, which will take me away from my blog, but I can research everything I need while I am away. Then when I get home, I am prepared to write. I hope that I will see these amazing creatures for myself one day but until then I will rely on the beautiful blogs of those who walk that path before me.

Hi! I just found your blog and wanted to say I think it's great! I'm doing a volunteer project in Kenya next year, after which I'll be travelling in Kenya/Uganda/Rwanda/maybe Tanzania, so it's really nice to read your stories :) Thanks! Lisanne

Is rafting over?
Hi guys, I rafted there nearly two years ago. Put it simply, Zambezi had more rapids, way more...but the three tops rapids were simply insane on the Nile? I saw the dams being built. So, is it all over already? Sad , as this rafting was just out of this world...

Children in prison

stranded in nyahururu
Good evening chris and diana, im glad to hear that after my intervention, you got to Eldoret safely. Being a gorvenment servant, i had to do everything within my reach to ensure that you got to your destination not only safely but also without paying an extra cent. I hope you will not forget me soon, especially after travelling with you in the very horrible journey from Nyeri to Nakuru. I miss your adoring hug diana, i hope i wil see once more. thanks

FROM DIANI to LAMU KARIBU KENYA
Hi Chris, Hi Diana, Got you at last! Kept postponing and I guess I should have visited this blog sooner. Just to recap, we met very briefly in Diani as you were checking out of the Camp site, remember? What an amazing account of your trip... Even more amazing is the camera work. The pictures are fantastic. Congrats to both of you. You depictions of your adventures are so real and very credible; you paint a very honest picture of my country. It makes a wonderful read and you guys are very very interesting. Your account of the visit to Marafa is very hilarious, ha ha ha... I wish was in the background to watch it all. Anyway, hakuna matata!! I am very proud to have met the both of you, even if for a couple of minutes only. After Diani I came back to Lamu! Yes, Lamu!! This is where I work - in a Community Development project giving technical assistance to Government departments. (Details later, if you don\'t mind) My home is in Eldoret in the Rift Valley, towards western Kenya. Well, I haven\'t read the whole account of your voyage (quite a compilation) but believe me I will spend sometime every evening to trace your trip from start to present. A little about Lamu, just an update... Its really sad that things got out of hand. The government has shut down all links with Somalia along this frontier, sea, land and air and intensified patrols - a little too late, I might say. The French hostage is reported to have been rescued while two Kenya Navy officers are missing after the rescue mission. We are all advised to keep away from potentially dangerous situations. Well, so much for now. Please feel free to get in touch at any time. I\'ll be glad to address any queries and offer opinions while you are on your adventures. Most of all, God Be with You, Diana and Chris, Cheers!! Kizito
