Hi all So we are currently in Saigon. We had a 7 hour trip here from Mu ne. We stayed with Laura's aunties sister Helen her husband Peter and son Bodhi for 2 nights. They have been living and working here for the last 2 years. It was really nice to have a nice hot shower a comfortable bed and some nice tea for a change! On our first night Helen and Peter brought us out for a lovely meal which was a nice change from our usual backpackers haunts! The next day we decided to go to see the war remenents museum and the grand palace. The war museum has some planes, helicopters and tanks in the grounds that you can get some pictures with. The rest of the museum displays pictures of all of the ... read more

Well Hello all from Mui ne Vietnam! We arrived in Mui ne following a 5 hour bus ride from Nha trang. On our way we stopped at a garage which had loads of different types of birds in cages laura ran back to the bus to get me to have a look, when I arrived I noticed a monkey was hanging on the wall right above the toilet Laura had just used, she hadn't spotted him at all. It would of made a really good story if he had jumped down beside her when she was doing her business you might of heard all the way back in Dublin haha! We got checked into our hostel Mui ne backpackers which is only recently done up, our room is really nice and very modern. The back of the hostel ... read more

Hi all So we had another of our over night sleeper bus rides to nha trang. We arrived at 8am and got checked into our lovely hotel perfume grass along with Helen and Dan. We immediately hit the hay for a couple of hours as we didn't get much sleep thanks to Vietnam's beautiful roads. When we woke we decided to hit the beach for the day as the weather was good. We were only on the beach for a couple of hours when the thunder started, we retreated to the very swanky sailing club where we had a few to many drinks as the thunder passed. The following morning we decided to go to the very popular mud baths. We both had a great laugh and a very relaxing day. We sat in our shared ... read more

Hi All, hope all is well at home we are having a great time! We arrived in Hoi An by bus and had a bit of a walk with our backpacks on our backs to get to our hotel, sweaty work that is but that's about as difficult as it gets for us haha! We are staying in a hotel called thanh van which is nice and also has a small pool which is great to cool off. Our first objective is to look around the many tailors to try figure out where we are going to get our clothes made, there are over 300 and the quality and price varies substantially. We picked a small place which had good reviews and was not as expensive as the bigger more well known tailors. You can have ... read more

Hey!!! So after our marathon sleeper bus journey we arrived in Hue at 10am, we found our hotel, Jade hotel which we would highly recommend!! As soon as we arrived they made us a yummy complimentary breakfast while we waited for our room and gave us a map and recommended places to visit. Every time we came back to the hotel they sat us in reception and gave us glasses of yummy cold juice and cold towels and the breakfast every morning was beautiful!! Fresh hot baguettes, eggs made to order or pancakes and fruit!! In Hue we took it easy, we stayed here for 2 days. On our first day we spent some time walking around the walled citadel and the Imperial city which were both really nice. The citadel is a Hugh walled city ... read more

Hey everyone!! So on Sunday the 9th of September we caught a plane with Laos Airlines from Luang Prabang in Laos to Hanoi in Vietnam, our plane was a (very) small ATR72 Laura was panicking when she saw the size of it haha but it was a very smooth 50 minute flight and we even got served food!! When we landed in Hanoi we bumped straight into Orlagh at immigration, she had just flown in from China and we had not seen her in a year!! It was a brill reunion full of laughs and happy tears lol :) The girls were so happy to be reunited and Ian was beginning to realise what he had let himself in for with us yapping for 2 whole weeks!! We stayed in the Sans Souci IV it was ... read more

Hi everyone, So after our very long 3 day 2 night journey from Thailand to Laos we were both in need of a shower and a good feed. We had met lots of people on the boat and so we all checked into the same hostel Xayana and we arranged to meet for dinner. On the way to dinner Ian stopped at an ATM to get some cash and the machine swallowed his card, nightmare when your seriously dehydrated and STARVING!! Because we had to head straight to an internet cafe and call the bank to cancel the card etc which seemed to take forever lol but we got it sorted and met up with the rest for food. The next day myself, Ian, Marie, Ria, Gill and Hugh rented bicycles and decided to cycle to ... read more

Hi everyone we thought it would be best to give this trip its own blog as it was so long. We arranged the slow boat package again with Mae from our hostel who is always so helpful. Our minivan picked us up from our guesthouse at 10am to take the first part of our trip from Chiang mai to Chiang rai, it was a comfortable enough trip once you don't look at all the crazy over taking the driver is doing. While in Chiang rai we got a short amount of time to see the white temple which was good as it was different to all the other temples we have already seen on this trip! From here it was back on the bus and onto Chiang Kong really just a small town on the Mekong ... read more

Hey Everyone!! Here's our next installment, enjoy :) After a fun 5 days in Bangkok we made our way to the train station to catch our sleeper train to Chiang Mai. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice our 2nd class sleeper seats were. The journey took 16 hours and as our seats were right beside the door out of the carriage to the next carriage where the toilet was situated we did not get much sleep as it was very loud when it was opening and closing! But we watched some movies on our tablet and took a trip up to the food car which looked like an Eddie Rockets (except they only served rice and noodles) plus the music in there was like a rave lol very random! When we finally arrived in Chiang ... read more

Hey everyone, were a bit behind on the blogs!! Busy! Busy! But we will add them as soon as we have time :) here is the next installment which is just one week late haha enjoy!! Today we took a day trip from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi so we could visit the bridge over the river kwai and the death railway. We were picked up at 7am and after changing buses twice and recieving a lovely pink sticker so the guides would know which bus to send us on we took off for our 2 hour journey to Kanchanburi. First we visited the Allied War Cemetary, a gift from the Thai people to remember the 16,000 allied soldiers who died while building the Thailand Burma Railway. We even stumbled across two soldiers headstones with the name Byrne!!! ... read more
