After the hectic travelling I had been doing with Justin and Joel, coming to England was a little like coming home for a rest after the relaxing holiday. In essence it was, I was born in Plymouth and had lived there for a few years in my teens so I wasn't really interested in seeing the sights that London or Plymouth haad to offer, it was about seeing old friends and having fun/drinking alcoholic yeast water. London I arrived in London after flying via Frankfurt in a plane with propellers! When was the last time that anyone went on an international flight in a propeller driven plane. It was quite exciting though as they made an amazing noise when they were revving up, like a swarm of angry, mechanical bees. Also we weren't flying above the ... read more

The epic tale about how I got to Tunisia Though this travel blog covers Tunisia out tale starts on a cold and stormy night in Salerno, Italy (well it wasn't cold and stormy, more bright, sunny and cheerful, but it adds to the effect doesn't it . . . right I'll stop now and get back to the story). When last we spoke our three intrepid explorers, Joel, Justin and myself, were happily travelling along the tourist path of Southern Italy. It was Monday the 31st of July and the day before we had found out that the ferry was not Sunday, it was today, this was but a minor hiccup in our tale, included only for factual accuracy. So today, Monday, we went down to the port to buy our tickets to Tunis, Tunisia. "I'm ... read more

We arrived in Naples late afternoon and went directly to our hostel, Hostel of the Sun. For anyone going to Naples I highly recommend staying here, it is the best hostel I have stayed at. The staff are friendly and helpful and the guests cool, it has a good kitchen, free internet, comfy common room, DVD’s to watch and laundry facilities to wash those clothes which have begun to move up the evolutionary ladder! It is an excellent place to hang out and relax after a day in Pompeii, Naples or the surrounding islands. Our first night there we went out with a few people from the hostel to another seedy square with dodgy looking pubs where Joel, feeling the effects of the alcoholic yeast water he had been ingesting, made a bet with an English ... read more

I arrived in Rome at the ridiculously early hour of 7am on the 21st July. I immediately discovered that it is summer in the northern hemisphere and the temperatures were pushing the high 30's. After a brief train and metro journey I arrived at my hostel, the Pensione Ottaviano. A hostel in a prime location about 100m from the North East corner of the Vatican. Seeing as I had a good 6 hours before Joel, Justin and Barry arrived I decided to set out on my own and do a bit of exploring, I had literally only gone about 20m before I was asked whether I wanted to go on a free tour of the Vatican. Excellent. Our guide took us first to Saint Peter's Basilica. In front of the basilica is St. Peter's Square, a ... read more

This is the first post for my year of travelling around the world, it will also be the worst of them all as it involves no travelling whatsoever. According to certain members of the Dunn household this will be, and I quote, The worst blog ever, they were probably right. The next one will be a real travelblog I promise. Being the highly organised and efficient university student that I am I decided to leave almost everything I needed to do until the last two days before I left Perth. This meant that instead of spending the last few days relaxing with family and friends I spent them madly dashing around trying to organise my life. Needless to say I was stressed. Below is a list of the clever things I left until the last minute. ... read more
