Elephant Riding Girls please can you come home right now I am so jealous at reading all your great adventures. They say travel broadens the mind. I think it definitely teaches you many many things you just cant learn at school. I just love travelling, having done lots of it I never tire of seeing new places and having new experiences. It stays with you forever. Any extra monies we get (and with the boys going to uni there's none around!!!) I'm happy to spend it travelling. I want to take Julie round the world again when the boys are parcelled away and (hopefully) in work in a few years. But this time I want to take a good few months over it so we can really chill out without thnking about going back to work next week. We've seen alot of places so I was thinking of doing something like China, Vietnam and Cambodia for starters. Anyway. Lanzarote - a different type of holiday is just around the corner and just as exciting. Take care you two xx
First 2 Days in Chaing Mai Hi Girls I was enthralled by your account of Chaing Mai. And well done with the teaching. How great it is to teach, especially the little ones. It is so satisfying. I'd love to be a teacher (they dont pay the money!!!! - and the red tape!!!!). We had our own personal driver in India. He drove us everywhere and went off on the evening got some bed and board and turned up the next day and we were off again. Great to have your own private driver. Minimal cost and so convenient. I didnt bother with the fish pedicure but Julie had a go. Not so sure I want that. Be careful on those motorbikes you two!!!! Sounds like tomorrow going to be another great day for you. Looking forward to the blog.Well must get to the gym. Need to look something like for Lanzarote :-) Cant keep up with Adam these days mind. xx
Wow!! Sounds like you are having an amazing time. Is teaching perhaps a career you could do in the future?? Can't wait to hear about the elephant trek and thanks ever so much for taking the time to keep us so well informed of your wonderful adventures. Take care x
Chang Mai It seems people have put in a lot of effort on your behalf organising your stay in Chang Mai, make sure you thank them all before you leave. The English teaching sounds like a worthwhile experience.
I'm not sure I like the idea of 3 on a motorbike, without helmets no doubt - just remember road safety isn't Thailand's strong point, and you're not covered on your travel insurance if you have an accident. I think that street with the massage parlours is probably one to avoid at night, though the night market sounds great.
Hope you enjoy your trip to see the elephants and looking forward to seeing the photos!
Chiang Mai Hi Girls I've just read all about it on Wiki - Travel. Looks like a great place. Hope you get a good chance to explore. Loads to do there. xx
Ko Lipe Hi Girls, I'm even more jealous now, if thats possible. What a great, cheap place. Think I'll pop over there at some stage and just wander around for a couple of years. Shouldnt cost much. I could keep in touch with Julie using a blog like this ;-) (only joking if you are reading this Ju!!!). We took Josh to Cambridge for a look see at the weekend. Great place. Very nice. Never been there until now, but he'll definitely have to work hard if he gets there. Unquestionably. Well Ju and I are off to the cottage this week so we'll be on a beach also:-) I didnt realise you were going away for so long. You'll not be wanting to come back:-) (hey theres a thought - you can probably get by there on a pittance and do some English teaching) but I hope you do so i can see all your pics and get all your stories. Save the stories for Lanzarote by the pool mind :-) xx PS Listen to your mam about taking no chances with yr safety!!!!!!!
Island Paradise Glad you enjoyed your island trip despite the bites and the sunburn! (Does Hollie have any legs left to bite? - perhaps she should wear long trousers from now on!!). The island sounds really beautiful and peaceful, not at all touristy.
I hope Clara had a lovely birthday and was pleased with all her presents.
Look after yourselves in Chaing Mai, and don't take any chances with your safety.
Update Hi Girls - Darn it I'm not reading any more blogs I am so jealous. You guys are having a blast!!! My buddy Graham is going to work in Shanghai for three months and I mentioned toJulie I was going to see him. She pulled a face until I invited here as well ;-). Nearly got away with going on my own.
Glad you are having a great time. Cant wait to see all the photos Jess xx
Wow everything is so cheap there! Unbelievable! Monkey mountain sounds like my kinda mountain. Hope you two are well and are having a good time. Sounds like u are! :D
Thanks Thanks everyone for comments so far, it's lovely to know that people are interested in what we're getting up to and we love getting your messages :)
Wow sounds cool! You guys must be having a great time! Im not sure about the thing about mosquitos not liking hairy legs cause when I was in Japan I was bitten to death until I was nbleeding all over my legs. Well thats what i get for wearing shorts in tall grass.
Update Hi Girls
Great to see you are having a good time on your holidays. A wonderful and different picture of Thailand. You should have tried the fried crickets though. We have just had an excellent (and sunny) weekend in Durham. All of us. Durham is a lovely place. Josh liked the Uni. It was great (but expensive) to have both the boys with us. Oh well back to the grind. Roll on Lanzarote x
Ants, Mosquitos and all Ouch!! Looks like you need to cover up in the evenings when the mossies are about and don't put any food in your cases until the end of your trip!! Apart from the sore legs, it sounds like your having a great time. I am surprised that you managed to meet up with your Russian friend in a big city when you failed to do it in an aeroplane!!
ps weather has been great here since you left - dry and warm, feels like summer!
Your adventures Hi Hollie and Jess, sounds like you are enjoying the experience of a totally different culture. Have a wonderful time and keep us all up-to-date with your adventures. Give our love to Rob and his family.
Well done! Really enjoyed reading about your first full day in Thailand - very interesting and quite exciting in parts. Photos great. Thanks for taking the time to keep in touch. Good luck for your future travels!
