Coulda woulda shoulda When ya got the Sumbawa blues do ya do what the locals probably do? Isn't the secret of life when it's balmy and the ferry is not running to sit with the locals and watch the world go by? Hours can slip into days...weeks...months...zzzzzz. Can you do what the locals do, Ralf?
Tijdje terug weer in holland Hai meneer Ralph,
We zijn alweer terug in koude ollanda ;-), Geweldige reis maak je en ik ga je zeker volgen.
Leuk dat we elkaar in 'the middle of all the places' TEPA hebben ontmoet.
Hele fijne reis verder ...enjoy
Tina
Terima Kasih Tina! Bedankt voor het lezen van mijn blog. Het was superleuk jullie daar te ontmoeten. Ik kom zelf ook overmorgen terug naar Nederland. Lekker koud ;)
I have to say Kelimutu looks lovely Ralf! How long did it take you to get up there? Also love your underwater photos, the colours of the fish are amazing!
20 minutes That's how long it took to get up... They take you by car to a parking place close to the top, you walk the last part on a well marked stone staircase and path. Not so impressed anymore now, are you ;)
Wow Ralf, once again I wish I was there, what a great trip. We took out the Times Atlas of the World so we could follow the route your ship took, but unfortunately since our Atlas is the concise version we couldn't find all the islands. I hope we can do the same trip some day. I think it's wonderful that it is off the beaten track and you seem to bump into such interesting people along the way! Read your new blog as well, and again very interesting. So funny that there was a man from Zutphen in the cemetery! Do you remember when he was born or when he died...just curious? Anyway enjoy the rest of your journey. Look forward to reading more about your time in Indonesia. Lots of love, Linn
Thank you Linn It was a nice trip indeed, but I was happy to off the ship after 5 days at sea to be honest.
About the man from Zutphen, if you look carefully at the photo you will find what you seek, date of birth: 1820, date of death 1883
The stick & the egg Beautifully written blog Ralf. Great pics as well. Took me there. You said what you did with the egg...but not what you did with the stick. Or is that sacred men's business?
Dive the lavaflow Hello Ralf,
good to hear you are traveling again.
If you are still in banda then dive the lavaflow, the area was destroid 20 years ago by a vulcano eruption, what grew back in the last 20 years changes your opinion about coral completely.
If you like Hatta, spend some time on pulau ai, its a good place for snorkeling, its a nice relaxed island with verry nice people.
If you like muckdiving try ambon, the diveshop in banda has a branch in ambon its a verry good place.
I have a nother 2 weeks than i am on my way to madagascar, the island has a feeling similar to indonesia but the diving is not as good.
Hope to meet you again some where.
Jens
Ps. We met in port blair in the andamans.
Too late To do any diving. I am off to Saumlaki today on a PELNI. It will just have to be Hatta, Banda Besar and Banda Neira for me.
Have fun on Madagascar!!
Accommodation in Maluku We (2 people) are considering spending 30 days in Maluku next spring. Can you give details of where you stayed in Ambon, the Lease Islands and the Sula Islands? rates, descriptions? (24-hour electricity? types of beds? Fan? private bathroom? etc.) We tend to cap our nightly rate at $40, but prefer lower. Thanks.
What the Hatshepsut Truly inspiring blog from Ralf the Premier Guide of All Things Hatshepsut...how do I book one of your tours? A neat reminder of what Egypt for millenniums has to offer. Stunning.
