Hi from Oz!! Heh Hans, another year almost past, so it seems and another great photo essay. International English- is that a "new" course? Am now on at least a 10 day break and won't know about work for next year until the end of the week. Having a quiet Xmas this year, the first without Mum, just hanging around home & doing some sorting out and culling of some of my accumulated possessions!! Heh, and you got a response from Stef!!! Wow!!! Hope you have a pleasant couple of days off and best wishes for the New Year & WInter/Spring Break. Are you travelling to the States as usual?
Hola! Hey Hans,
I know its been awhile. Glad to see that you are still enjoying teaching in Taizhou. I have been trying to reach you. All my emails bounced back. I was planning a trip to Shanghai for xmas, but the chinese embassy refused to grant me a visa. Apparently I lack sufficient visa pages. That or my passport is a bit too raggedy for them. It really has been through hell. Oh well. I'm thinking of going to Taiwan for a masters in either education or environmental studies. I could work on my Mandarin as well. I've quit my job here and am only staying till my replacement can take over. I'm working on getting my doggie the necessary papers to travel home with me. Wushu is the best impulse buy ever! Longest comment ever I know! Anyway, merry xmas Hans! send me your new email address if it has changed.
Been trying to get in touch with you. Your old e-mail no longer works. Please send new one.
We are in Vero until after Easter. Hope to hear from you soon!
Best always,
Ed
The crisp blue sky above the beach is a bit of enviable, while here in Taizhou we are right now engolfed in this thick smog! Everybody is choking, sneezing, even tiny newborn babies have no escape. We have no choice, but to accept this twice-a-year onslaught of straw-burning by local farmers.
You have represented a real view and deep analysis about the education in China. Sounds strange for Westeners to understand.
Hans:You tell us you want to watch a show !Let us tell you when and where have a show!!Tomorrow ,there is a show at Gymnasium .But I am not sure if you can enter ,because we all have a ticket !
I am sorry my English is poor!!!! I am a student from Taizhou Teachers College Thank you!!
Bridge on the Li Hi Hans and what a great recognition of your work in China..well done. Just noticed the pic of "Double Moon Bridge in Guilin.....I am sure I am correct in saying this sits on the four lakes two rivers development in the central city area, maybe Ru lake...? The Li River is further to the east. I have walked those bridges many times and they are one of Guilins beautiful attractions. I have just returned from 3 weeks in China. Cheers kevin
Congrats! Heh Hans, another award!!! Congratulations!! Just received an email from John with photos which brought back a lot of memories. Received an email from Adam too- translated by Kylie as he's forgotten so much of his English. A shame, but great to hear from him. He's doing very well. He asked to be remembered to you.
Take care xxx Sue

A L-o-o-ng Way from Prince George High (And a successful trip!) I enjoy your e-mails so much and am, as always, so very proud of you! Congratulations on your latest award and to the sponsoring agency on recognizing true value.

Oh, you're kissing a Rudolph! Unfortunately, he's chained and may never will escape his ill-fate. Never mind, the rape-flowers are splendid, a common sight of spring years ago. The lake is perhaps the cleanest in the country.
I can almost smell the ocean while browsing through the pictures, and the Fairchild Garden is so inviting. The plants grow naturally in the open air. Maybe, it's a botanical garden without needs of greenhouses.
Hoffentlich ihm gehts gut!
Absolutely Amazing! Heh Hans, you really are being prolific with your blogging lately. Very impressive- haven't really heard anything about these rock carvings before. A must see when I get to travel in China again.
Enjoy your holiday season. Sue
DAZU Great to see a blog on Dazu...the best grotto carvings in SW China...protected from damage during the Cultural Revolution I recall...a very special place. Some of the other sites in the area are worth a visit as well.

Your blogs are great. We never did meet, while I was teaching in Nanjing. But I really enjoy reading your blogs. This one was particularly good. I\'m back in Atlanta, but am glad to be transported to China. Thanks.
Memories! Ta'er Si complex was one of my favourites during my travels in China as well, Hans. I continue to be impressed with the fact that you've put out 3 blogs in about a week!!!!
Great photos once again.
Hugs
Sue

After 38 years as a Foreign Language Teacher and Foreign Language Dept. Chair at Coral Gables Sr. H.S., and A.J. Professor of German at the University of Miami, I have left Florida in June of 2006, where my home is in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. I have just signed another year's teaching-contract (my 8th year now) with Taizhou University in the city of Taizhou, located about 3hrs north of Shanghai, in Jiangsu Province, CHINA.
I thought it would be informative for others and rewarding for me personally, to log the progress of my efforts from beginning to end, as a Travel and Photo Jo... full info
