Colour me in gold – JP Cooper Golden leaves - Passenger "You’re bottomless with wonders, like a flooded quarry I could dive into. You’ll grow deeper, I’ll grow fonder. Love goes deeper than the fishes into you."-Nizlopi It is not true that the things you own define you. They say something about you, with the way you keep them, what had you choose them at first and how you use them, but it would be unfair to pretend knowing me by looking at my bike and bags. You know someone by the mark they leave on you. Knowing someone is a risky science; it is never absolute and it will never leave you. The picture will get more complex with time; but as soon as they give you their colors, they will stain your hands and ... read more

Mercy – Muse "Shut up and love" -LaVonne My brother told me once that it doesn’t matter if you slow down, as long as you do not stop. That guy I met in Canyon Village told me not to beat myself up over the passes I could not bike; it’s your adventure, you call the shots. I am having a rough pass lately, I do not feel like I am doing enough. Montana is beautiful and the sun is shinning up and proud practically everyday; but I seem to have no control over my laziness. It’s gonna come back, I am working on it. But I did go on a really cool hike this weekend, at Corbly Gulch. Following a creek up to Skyline Ridge in the Bridgers and down the same way, it was a ... read more

Petit papillon – Jean Leloup "Tu sème le bonheur à chaque pas que tu fais, mais à ton réveil la vie reprend son train"- coeur de pirate We do not have a lot of forest fires where I come from. Never have I seen as much smoke as I have seen surrounding Belgrade in the last few days. It comes and goes on a random schedule almost impossible to see in advance. They say it is one of the worst years; it comes from all around; from California to Alberta. Amazed as I was by the Bridgers that frame the east of the area, I was even more surprised to not see them in the first smoky morning. You can’t see a mile ahead, or almost. I didn’t think much of it after explanations, what could ... read more

Every other freckle - alt-j To be honest I have purchased a couple albums and songs in the last few days and I am genuinely obsessed with them. This is all yours – Alt-J Make it Happen – Nizlopi Up Rise EP – Nizlopi Half these songs are about you – Nizlopi Selah Sue – Selah Sue ( eponyme) Lockjaw – Flume & Chet Faker ( merci Isa et Pierrot!) And a few wonderful songs I have been in Montana for a week now and am completely in love. They call it Big Sky country for a reason. Can’t wait to go on hikes and adventures. But on the first day I got there I met this guy. Meeting people is always a big deal for me, but I am becoming more and more comfortable with ... read more

My last night in Dakar-Nizlopi ‘You’ve got some soul searching to do girl? Don’t ever let anyone get in the way. You got this’ that women in Old Faithful. So I just finished my first real long distance bike ride. I will have to calculate the official number, but I think it turns around 300miles/480km in 20 days, with some hikes in between. I feel great. The last miles were hard and coming back to regular civilization happened a bit too fast for me, but I feel really good; like I just found something that makes me feel like I am living, a thing that animates me. I lost some things, I am really stinky, as is all of my stuff, I have had some really scary experiences on the road and I am smiling like ... read more

Follow me-Muse I bought my bike in Boise a week and a half before the beginning of my trip. I have to say; I have work in sales before, and it’s a dirty, manipulative form of art; it gets on my nerves. But bike guys, man, those guys only want your best and will call any other store for it. They are all just so nice and attentive; they want to know what your plan is, will probably get excited for you, will tell you their personal point of view based on personal experience and tell you what you should be looking for. The kind of salesman who doesn’t care about the sale, but about the customer and the use they’ll make of their buyings. If only the whole retail world was like this, about quality ... read more

Live forever-Oasis 'For one moment, while she looked at him in her love and mirth, he saw the absurdity of the Tragedian. For one moment he did not at all misunderstand her laughter: he too must once have known that no people find each other more absurd than lovers.' The Great Divorce A few days ago, I bathed in solitude. Both litteraly and poeticaly. I fully dived in. I think the english langage has an important point where it makes a difference between being alone and being lonely. One does not necessarily mean the other. Some people say that you can’t truly love someone else without loving yourself first, or being comfortable alone first, if you want. It is not true. You can truly make something the wrong way, but it still comes from the bottom ... read more

Yesterday I cycled my way up the Teton Pass and then down to Jackson Hole, a lovely westernish touristic town. I was oh so tired and, as usual, unprepared, last minute and badly timed with the touristic season. Now the first logical thing to do would have been to find a place to sleep that night and then enjoy town. I even met a fellow touring group who told me they had a wonderful Warmshower host, and that maybe he could accommodate me too. But you see, I was thirsty. And one thing they do brag about in this town is their wiskey. .. So I found a bar, got lost in the I-have-wi-fi zone and failed to find the said host, tried some last minute Couchsurfing with no answer, then proceeded around 10pm to ask ... read more

Wild horses-Rolling Stones (or Krajcik) It annoys me that every time someone asks me about my practice and beliefs I get all uncomfortable and try to justify myself. It seems that I am ashamed of those things, but why? They make me, me! They might be wrong or stupid, but fine, I’ll learn why and become a better person! Beliefs are born from our cultural background, personal values and things we learn through time. The people surrounding you that you trust will influence you and share beliefs with you. Either it is a cultural thing in your area our something your intellectual neighbour told you, the idea now as a place in your head. You will then question the reason behind this with your own set of values; does it make sense? Is there any proof ... read more

Gravity eyelids-Porcupine tree Taking my time and being aware of my situation, those are the two things on which I have been working on for the last few days. Slowing down to fully take in the wonders surrounding me and truly understand the exchange when I talk to people. I always find myself wanting to go too fast and skipping words or steps and then regretting it because I am not making myself clear or I am not getting the results I wanted. Stop wanting, just accept. I feel like I am trying to go faster than the world is turning , spoiling the here and now for the could be and want to be.
