Sunday It sounds as if you are having a wonderful time and being treated so well by your hosts. I think the franchisee of the local KFC must be rubbing his hands with glee; he's probably never sold so many bucket meals at once! Sara/mum x
Look up in the sky on Monday evening 6.10pm (Just in case the 'private' message doesn't reach you. On Monday evening:
6.10pm - Look NNW, 35° above the horizon for an Iridium Flare. It lasts about 4 seconds, so don't be late.
6.11pm - Look to the SW, watch the international space station appear and pass almost overhead (right by the moon), reaching the NE horizon at 6.18pm. There are 6 people on board at the moment.
Food glorious food! Glad to see that Charlie isn't at risk of fading away - he seems to be finding enough to eat! It does seem that the mission's chicken farm may need to increase production now that the Grace Team have single-handedly boosted demand at the local KFC!
Charlie - we're missing you but it looks like you are having a great time there. I hope the second week continues to be an adventure of a lifetime! xx
Very envious!! So lovely to hear all your news and sounds like you are all really getting stuck in to things. You will be pleased to know that the weather here has changed and we have had some dreadful weather with more to come. So bad that Issy (Olivia's sister) tent blew away at a festival she was at never to be seen again! We love hearing the news keep it coming! Geoff and Emma
very envious!!! We are just going to church and i'm all dressed up! What did Isy sleep in???? I will tell what happened today later! I love you loads! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Free School Photos A friend of my father's has seen the blog and offered to travel to the Grace School and do free school photographs. It is what he does in his retirement - Gilman and Soame for those who can't pay. Anyway I've forwarded the email correspondence to Mr Hudson's address as I figured Angela won't be checking her emails. But I thought you might want to ask Mrs Ntuli if she is interested. All he needs is the school address and a name and contact number and he thinks he could do it this year. They aim to give each child a 10x15 personal photograph, a 10x20 class photograph and usually a key ring with a small photograph attached, all for free!!
Hope you are all well. xxx Louise
Thanks for the news - it's starting to become a regular feature of our evenings to check on the events so far away...I see Josh is taking good care of his knees (many thanks for Mrs Reeves for her ministrations)...very different from the green scenery in Buckhold - I can see why shoe polish was on the shopping list today. Looking forward to tomorrow's update...VJEx
All Action Glad to see that you are all working hard! The pictures are excellent and I am pleased that the team are all getting stuck in (too much in the case of rugby). Good luck to you all
Arrival Great to hear that you have all arrived safely, and hopefully no problems at immigration. Glad to note that our advice on getting some sleep on the flight was well heeded! Really pleased that everyone's (or everybody's) fund raising has been put to such good use - well done to you all. Watch out for Mr Mabbett - he strikes us as a bit of a card sharp - make sure he doesn't fleece you for all your pocket money! Keep up the good work, and we look forward to hearing all the news.
Thinking of you all It was so good to read the first 'day in the life of the Grace Team' entries, and be able to imagine a little of what you are all experiencing. We are thinking of you today, as you have your first full day at the school, and looking forward to reading all about it. Yaa, wosara zvakanakaso
So glad you have all arrived safely. I hope you have a very rewarding week and manage to achieve all you have set out to do. We are so looking forward to hearing all about it. Emma
Greetings from Rugby friends We want to send our warmest good wishes to you all, as you embark on your adventure to Siyabuswa. As we know from our visit to Grace School last year, you will find it is a life changing experience. The memories we have from that visit, will remain with us forever. Have a fabulous trip and well done for raising such an incredible amount of money.
Target reached! We have just sent another £1500 to The Grace and in doing so, surpassed our £15,000 target! Well done, everyone--this is a fantastic achievement in just over six months!
Wonderful project. Wishing everyone a great visit to The Grace Christian School.
Looking forward to hearing all your news.
Will you did a brilliant job with all those ski runs.
We are a sixteen-strong team of pupils and staff from St. Andrew's School, Pangbourne, about to embark on what we hope will be the trip of a lifetime to our partner school in South Africa, The Grace Christian School in Siyabuswa. We have supported the school for eleven years, had four previous trips there and raised money to sponsor children and build an Early Years Centre. This year we been raising funds for a new block housing a library and computers, and so far have collected nearly £14,000 towards our target of £15,000. We hope to run lessons and activities at the school, visit children ... full info
