Los Millares is located just outside the small village of Gador, Andalusia, you really need to find it on google first before you head out as there is no signage until you are almost there then a small red sign appears simply saying Los Millares. Unfortunately this is the norm for Spain, very little to tell you about a place that should be well advertized as Los Millares is considered one of the most important Copper Age sites in all of Europe. The site consits of an urban area with collective burial sites dating back to 3200-2200 B.C. It is a self guilding tour with no admission fee however there is a small information centre at the road where you can obtain a small brochure. After our 4 day relaxation and ready to hit the road again so off we go to Latvia our first stop is Riga. I had never hear of it before we decided to see the Baltic Countries. So let me tell you our experience of Riga and what we thought of it. We were told that Riga was dirty with lots of graffiti, but what we found was something totally different and unexpected. What we found was a beautiful friendly old mixed with new city, with narrow streets and antique buildings. I love the pedestrian-only old town makes it easy to walk around without the concern of buses, cars and trucks and poop in and out of the many shops and stop for a beer at one of it's many little street pubs. So where do you look for a place to stay in a city, the city of Prague offer many, many different accomodations, but if you are looking for something a little different at a reasonal price, let me tell you about where we chose to stay. Can you imagin that only 2 mins from the city tram and just outside the city limits you can find yourself staying at a 1000 year old monastery. Well this was quite a find, beautiful old buildings surrounded by extensive gardens and a small lake to stoll around. There is an excellent restaurant on the grounds right beside the hotel, with outside area for a cold beer or a full meal for very reasonable price, I believe our full meal was about 24 euro with drinks. Too Hot here in Southern Spain in the summer so off for an excellent adventure. Travelling to 10 countries, adding 4 new ones to our list of never seen before. So pull up your arm chair and have a follow along with Eurome the Weerome as he trips, enjoy his photos and maps without even leaving the comfort of your own home. He is travelling from Mojacar, Spain to Helsinki, Finland with major stops in between. Leaving home on Friday June 30 we set out on our journey, our first major stop was the beautiful Midieval city of Besalu, Spain. Hadn't been away for awhile so I decided to have a Secret Escape for my hubby's birthday, we wanted to find some place fun to go here in Spain no too far from home. So within a little less than 4 hours drive I found a beautiful little Spainish village of Belmonte found on the "Quijote's Road" ( Rute del Quijote) also know for it's impressive 15th century Castillo De Belmonte. Belmonte is surrounded by 15th Century walls with 3 of the orginal access gateways still in amazing condition, and inside the city walls we wondered around and found some beautifully interesting buildings.
