Miss you Hey Kevin. Just found a link to your blog. I miss your smiling face in the cafeteria. All is well. I got my son married a few weeks ago. I found out how much of a country gal I am and I like it that way! Glad to see you are having a good time.
Pet store? You were close. It's Pet Pharmacy , the top sign. The second square sign is Zoo boutique , Royal Canin. Probably pet clothes from the world famous designers .
The third sign is a name of street, Surganov St.
Thanks for the pictures. They make me laugh and of course a lot of memories. The picture of the Big Mac reminds me that many years ago, I spent half of my pay check on the meal. The first McDonalds building in Minsk was made of granit . Did you visit it on Independence Ave?
stop sign Hi George and Kevin!
The signs are so interesting! I can see the similarity in some of them to their English translation. Most interesting to me is the Stop sign that says STOP in English, not in Russian! I wonder why that is!?! Thanks for sharing!
Hi! Hi there George and Kevin,
So glad you are having an interesting time in your new location! I wish I could see things through your eyes.
Here we are getting ready for winter. It usually snows by the week after Halloween, and once it starts, it doesn't usually quit until May. We got another house ready to rent. That will be the last one for this year. We have one more to rehabilitate next year, then we should have all we can handle.
We will probably be in Kooskia in April deciding what to do with Mother's house and things. When will you be back? We would love to see you and hear stories.
Thank you for writing your blog. It is much appreciated! Please, more pictures!
Big hugs to you both!
Dawn
Great stories! George, thank you for including me in your list of people to whom you share your blog. This is quite an adventure you two are taking! I loved the stories about kids in the classrooms there. Kids are kids, doesn't matter what country you are in! Take care, Christina Tondevold
Greetings! I am very pleased that you arrived safely. I have thought of you often, hoping your new adventure brings you all that you are looking for. The pictures are magnificent and your flat is very quaint. It is bigger than my home in McCall! I will continue to watch your new life unfold. Health and happiness to all.
Hello from Steveston, B.C. Just read in the spot where I am to make my comment that all are "moderated and links are stripped". Hmm?
So glad to hear that you are enjoying your new home away from home. Minsk is indeed a modern city but how lovely to look down on a house with a huge garden. Life should be comfortable and cosy in your spacious, bright flat. The photos anticipated one of my questions but now I'd like to see the bathroom, please.
I found the school on the map but no street view yet. Do you have a romanized name for your street, and the lake you walked to? And, when does school term start?
We have been in the midst of our own heat wave. We're enjoying swiss chard, the last of the peas, daikon, and my favourite sweet peas from Craig's garden plot. Next week we will have another feed of beets. He picked blackberries yesterday and early this morning which I will turn into juice and freeze until I'm ready to make jelly. David & Bonnie will be here for a couple of nights next weekend when we will likely re-visit Granville Island.
Love to you Kevin & George,
Ann & Craig
Glad you made it safely! Hi George and Kevin!
So awesome to see your blog entries so far! That market sounds amazing with all the fresh produce and the spice man mixing your spices for you! I'll look forward to reading many more entries from you guys! Too bad you haven't escaped the summer heat over there. We're headed for temps of 97 and 101 here in Moscow this coming week. UGH! Wish we had a lake to go for a swim. Keep enjoying the grand adventure and sharing your experiences with us!
Steph
