Mysore Just to let you know that I was born many moons ago in the lovely town of Mysore and at the Holdsworth Memorial Hospital which still continues to operate. Some British surgeons still go there for short periods of voluntary service.

Greetings Having just returned from the Orient this the first opportunity I've had to contribute to your blog which is superb and one of the best that I have read from a GSE Team - congratulations. You all appear to be having a great time but don't forget to pace yourselves. Have you met up with any of the D.3180 team yet?
Keep up the good work and keep the news flowing.
Fascinating.... Hi Emily
Many thanks for a great blog today. I am working on the bulletin for the Rotary Club of Kendal, and will include an extract, particularly the contents of your breakfast! Best Wishes to you all.

What an experience So delighted that you are there safe and sound and it looks like you've been really busy already! Hope that you get your camera back soon so that we can see some photos, espcially of the colour of the wedding!
Hope you continue to enjoy your trip.
RE: left-handed WE were told before coming to India that eating with your left hand is very offensive, but upon arrival I have been told my lots of people not to worry and just do what feels comfortable. I have become quite dexterous with my right hand and ate 3 meals today without any cutlery! Tracy took a photo of me at the wedding eating off a banana leaf - it will hopefully get added to the blog soon.
Wedding outfits - we wore our smartest clothes, but all the women wore gorgeous sari's of many colours. More details to follow in the next few blogs! The main word to describe an Indian wedding = colourful!!!!
We are taking part in the Rotary D.1190 (Cumbria and Lancashire) Group Study Exchange to India Rotary D.3180 (Karnataka). Although mainly based in Mangalore, we will be travelling throughout Karnataka in South West India. The trip takes place from 2 January 2013 until 2 February 2013. As well as visiting many historical and religious places, we will each spend five days learning about our individual sectors and how they function in India. Throughout the trip we will live with Rotarians and their families, experiencing and enjoying their culture and hospitality.
