Thank you for all the details. I can't imagine Vance going into the pyramid. Been there - done that and it was TIGHT for me. Can't wait to see you in Antananarivo! Love you the most! Nana
Ya'll look like your having a blast. Can't wait to see the photos of the pyramids. Rush, your brother keeps asking when Daddy, Bubba, and Uncle Mac are coming home from the airport...I'm sure picking ya'll up on the 25th will really make him think ya'll spent the whole month at DFW. Keep up the stories and pics they are great. Wish we were there. We love you, Mom and Jett
I am so happy for you guys! I love reading your daily journal and seeing the pictures! I love to travel and would look forward to hearing more of your adventures.
I'm an armchair traveller! Matt, I am enjoying the trip tremendously! You boys are doing a great job blogging; keep up the good work. I see you're wearing your hats ~ how about sunscreen? Judy Chase
WOW My office mate and I started reading to live vicariously through you guy's, now we're just green with envy! Rush, I am soooo happy for you that you get to take this trip with your Dad and uncle, soak up every minute. Matt, you are such a blessing. Vance, isn't it fun to watch Rush have this once in a life time lesson! Thanks for taking us along for the ride, love all three of you, Kara
You guys are so lucky. I love the blog thing. I am not very computer savey, but this is the way to travel. I feel like I too am experiencing the many travels. The pictures are great. Matt could be a professional guide. Is he available next year for a trip to south america?LOL. Rush, you are a man. I don't know of another youngster that could take the airplanes and day to day confusion of traveling. What an experience. Miss you guys. Be careful at Kruger. Jeff
I'M LOVIN' IT! I'm glad you did the felucca ride. We did that regularly just to unwind when I lived there. The museum is awesome isn't it...and your description so true about the upkeep. I remember tiny padlocks on glass cases of invaluable artifacts. One of my fondest memories is climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza in the middle of the night to the top and watch the sun come up over the city. (I don't recommend it this trip. It's illegal and would cost you bakshis to pay off the guards!) Love your photos, blog entries, and impressions by all. What a fabulous trip!
Too COOL!!! You guys are sharing such a wonderful time together, and it is so cool to get to see some of it. Take care hugs to all. Keep up the blogs we love to read them.
cool Very cool photos and stories! Glad you got some rest, even though Rush disagrees. We got more rain today, maybe tomorrow as well. This blog thing is really awesome, thanks for taking the time to keep us informed. I feel like I am there...
Love you all!
ps-watch what you say about Miss Kitty
Ramses II The mummy of Ramses II (or maybe I) will be in my mind forever. We loved the museum. I think we may have eaten lunch at the hotel you were in. The cemeteries along our route weer incredible!
Keep 'em comin' LOVE reading about your days.......and nights.
I'm going to repack tonight. Many of the ACUer's have NOT gotten their luggage yet. Sooo...I'm packing your pants, shirts, ties and shoes in a larger carry-on and will hope for the big suit case to get there with me. Then you would have your suit coats. If it doesn't, you'll still be clean and dressed well. Otherwise, you might be wearing your travel clothes. Will see how it goes!
Can't wait to get back to my computer tomorrow to see what is happening! THANK you for sharing the details!!! Love you the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mom/Nana
Well, I'm enjoying your trip ... Guys I'm addicted to reading about your adventures! You really bring the sites you see alive for those of us stuck at home. I think the 'hustle' is universal, because we got sucked in by a similar set-up in Mérida, Mexico (Dad ended up with a hammock. Heh, heh.) Anyway, much love and keep sending photos and tales of your travels!
Keep up the posts You boys are keeping my mental movie alive. Hang in there! You should be well-rested by Thanksgiving. Rush, keep your dad and uncle in line. You are the least of the family worries (just wait till your mom and Karl arrive!) Sis :)
Ciro sounds great. Be careful. What a trip so far. Glad ya'll are slowing down. Mother Nature will do it for you, huh? Can't wait 'till the next blog. Love ya'll .
Back to my computer! I've been reading your blogs from various places, but glad to be back at my own computer. Love every word...every picture. Thank you for keeping us informed. Sounds like things are going well! I hear that the ACUer's are in Tana now....but not all their luggage. I've packed your suits, but who knows if the suitcase will get there!! I guess we will just have to hope for the best.
Enjoy Cairo! See you Friday night! Love.......Mom/Nana
Cairo My Dad was in Egypt with occasional trips to Cairo from 1939-1944, I have some photographs that he took there, remind me to show them to you on your return. Dysentry (sp?) seemed to figure prominently in his stories about the place - be careful! Mike.
Independence Day Have you found a pub and some Brits to celebrate 4th of July with? What were you thinking with that pocket knife? If you need one or feel you must carry one--they do make ones out of plastic and/or other polymers! Better yet just call me!!! Nice vest! I have one similar for work! You look sharp! Don't forget the Madigascar Shrimp!
Way Cool Ya'll sound like you are going tooooooo hard. Slow down and smell the roses. Ha. Enjoy it all. The pictures are GREAT!! Love ya'll, and can't wait for the next blog.
My name is Matt and I live in the Hill Country of Texas. My brother, Vance, his 11 year old son, Rush, and myself are getting ready to make a whirlwind run through London, Paris, Cairo, Kruger Nat. Park in S. Africa and Madagascar. We will be on the road for most of July. We are travelling light with just a couple of changes in small backpacks. ... full info
