Fly from Heathrow on the 30th of October. First stops Johannesburg, the main city, where we stay in the eastern suburds with Andrew's cousin and friends. Also go to Pretoria, the legislative capital of South Africa, for a birthday party at Heinrich's. See a performance of the Lion King at Montecasino. This province is called Gauteng. It is unusually green for this time of year, the locals say. The weather is very pleasant during our stay - a daily very short thunderstorm keeps things cool - otherwise sunny with little humidity.
