Hi, Yes, back home and 'updating my home'. I am still taking a while to settle back into the routine of Oz. I shaved off beard in Korea, because everyone said i would look younger. The next day, went to buy movie ticket and they asked me if i was over 65 annd did I want a pensioner discount!!- so much for that....Good luck with future travels. I am happy for a short break.
This brings back great memories! Hi John! Wonderful photos and such great memories it brought back for me although my trip was 10yrs ago. Seems you did such a lot in just 2 weeks! Also noticed you've rid yourself of your "scary" beard! Are you back in Oz now? I'm still on the move. Currently in Zorneding in Southern Germany visiting old travel buddies. See you when I get back home! ie if you're still there!
Good speed to your journey and your life I shall miss good memories with you in Korea.
I will not forget you who is sensitive to Korean culture and history.
Thanks! Merci Bien! I hope you will have a nice time in Vietnam.
Hi from Estonia Hi John
I guess you'll be sunning yourself in Vietnam by now! I understand how you feel about leaving Korea after your year teaching there. I know I miss China terribly! Anyway, my travels are going really well, so I hope you have a safe trip home!
nice pause Enjoyed it a lot very funny and lighthearted interesting loved the wavy rice photos and all the incidental info haven't got to 1-12 yet so some treats in store. Arrive Sapa 19th we're pretty certain for how long not sure; 1 to 4 weeks maybe. Cheers, M.
Hi from Kazan, Tartarstan Hi John
Another great blog! Am having a great time in Russia after a few challenges in Mongolia! Need to find Wi Fi so I can use my own computer as the internet cafes don't allow me to use my flash disk to upload my blog stuff! Look forward to catching up when I get home. Regards Sue
Hi Angela Thank you for your concern about my cold. I am now better, but I still have a cough, which won't go away. I now have my ticket to Vietnam for end of August. Teaching is going well and will soon have many camps.-John
Hi John, How are you doing? I've heard you had a terrible cold from your co-teacher. Right after you went to hospital. I called the worker in the hospital. She told that you've taken only medicine. I also wonder if you buy the ticket to cambodia. Anyhow, please take care of yourself. You know I dont like your ailment.:-) I read your traveling story.
Good luck in Mongolia Hi Sue, Enjoy your next overland journey. A pity about your blogs getting behind. Still, it is better to be traveling than writing about it, i guess. How long will I have to wait for the Mongolian one?? (joke) . Getting a tourist visa for NW China was too difficult, with the Tibet protests/ earthquke and Olympics, so I am going to Vietnam start of September instead, before going back to Oz-John
Great photos John! You've put me to shame again, John! Last few weeks have been crazy, so have made no progress with my blogs. On the road again myself. Currently in Beijing on my way to Mongolia next week. Enjoy your last months in South Korea. What happens after that?
A SMALL WORLD Hello Big Brother, I never expected that the photos of farmer with tracktor ( 3 X "Spring Crops"near start of page 2) would be related to someone I know! I am glad you like the photos.
Also, hello to unknown student in 'black cat suit' from Woobang Funpark in "Shy kids dressed as animals" photo on page 6
mini tracktor's driver is my father! My father is taken pictures by your digital camera. He is 70 years old. He plowed the field to ready for a rice crop. In Korea, most of the rice field is very narrow and compact, this mini tracktor is more useful and economical than big tracktor. when my father was in military service about 40 years ago. He was armored vehicle(American tank,M1) crew.
Your photos of My home town is very beautiful.
I'm so jealous of your photos - the colours seem so much brighter than in my photos. That close up of the magnolia flower is just stunning.
As usual I am completely jealous of you living in such a glorious town!
Hi from WA! Hi John,
Thanks for including me in your mailing list, I love your country village, it looks very quaint and wonderful mountainous back-drop. All your commentary is great, it reminds me that I would love to travel to more exotic places someday. I wish the country living in WA, might have to make it back to the bush soon!
Best Wishes,
Robyn
the inside story Hi, John. Great blog and some good pictures. I have to say though; I would like to see more on what you actual life is like where you are. The trials and tribulations of your life as an English teacher, what the students are like and what have you. Great pictures though.
Wow, you had a great spring time. John, I saw all the photos you took around this region during the spring time. They are wonderful. That you liked it very much made me smile. But remember you should be well all the time until you leave. That's under my responsibility. :-) I sometimes miss you too much. Especially the time when I can't see you for a long time. :-) Take care in Andong this long weekend.
Hi Belinda Thanks again for your comments on MY village. As you know it is even more spectactular in Spring. So I guess I will see even more photos of it in your new Blog! John
Hello Bromwyn It's good to hear from you and about your enjoyable trip to USA. Maybe you should start your own blog, or at least send me some photos when you settle in back home. Bye for now-John
FROM CHINA TO KOREA
I have recently returned from two trips to China teaching English and I am about to start teaching again; this time in South Korea. I love travel, especially in Asia and by working there, feel I experience the country more than by just passing thru it.
My previous travels before China were 15 months in North America and Europe in 1975-76 and many South East Asian countries in 1980-81 for another 9 months. After almost another quarter of a century living in Australia, I got the travel bug once again.
This time I decided to do it slightly differently by working. I hear... full info
