Well hi there stranger! How nice to hear from you again, John! Back teaching in China , wow! Just had a quick look at a couple of previous blogs & saw you taught at Taizhou Teachers College. My old stamping ground! Have a vague recollection that you mentioned it at the time. Look forward to reading more of your blogs & it may motivate me to restart mine!
Hello again. yes, I like to keep the blog up to date; even thought it is hard sometimes. this last one came thru before I wanted it to. I only just started it and more to add yet. Central China was just one month travel since I don't teach any more. I will email you. John
Looking for the hidden park in the city Hi there, I moved to Shaoxing about a month ago to teach and have been exploring some of the places in the pictures. Can you direct me to the hidden park though? Thanks, Robert
working in shaoxing good luck in shaoxing. the uni was also very pleasent. even though i was not well most of the time, it was a great easy going place to walk around or just catch a double-decker bus to anywhere. john
Thanks Yes, all tombs are not named correctly. I go a bit slack; too many captions of too many photos. maybe one day i will fix it up. Good luck on your third visit; well worth it!
Incorrection captions on Tomb photos Nice photos! I have been to the imperial tombs twice in two years, and will make another visit next month in time for the Hue Festival 2010. I wish to mention that not all photos from the imperial tombs posted in your blog were taken at Minh Mang tomb. Some are from the tombs of Khai din and Tu Duc.
Your Tours Fascinating John.
I have never bothered with some of these new methods, and putting your experiences up for all to see
is a splendid idea.
Well done
Cheers Jake

It's always great when the reality exceeds our expectations, isn't it? Hi John
You obviously were blessed with the weather, as well. Another good blog. Catch you skyping sometime. BTW, could you email me some infor re the last place you were at near Hangzhou? My friend is looking for a job around Hangzhou and I wanted to give her info about avoiding pitfalls. (She taught with me in China for 2 years and has been in Seoul for 2 years and can't wait to get out of Korea! China seems to have this amzing pull on all of us!
Bye for now
Sue
I'd love to go back! Hi John
Looks like you had a pleasant time before heading back to Oz. I must put Central Vietnam on my list of places to go. I've been to the North, but didn't have time to venture any further on that particular trip. Hope to catch up before you head off again. I'm flying to China on May 20, for my holiday, so hopefully we can at least "skype it" between now and then!
Too Tall John, you're not too tall/big at all. It's just that you're getting clumsy and uncoordinated like the rest of us ageing hippies and keep knocking/kicking things that you no longer see in your peripheral vision. Catch up soon TerryB
Brrrrrr! That does look cold! Hi John! Those pics of you bundled up have given me some pleasant and not so pleasant memories of my first winter teaching in Taizhou! Let me know when you're back in Oz!
Hi from Oz Hi John
Good to see the blog up and active again. I now understand what you mean by the contrast in your 2 apartments. Seeing your photos makes me a little wistful about China again! Looking forward to my trip in May. I guess you'll still be there?
Hey... So yeah, I googled that statue on... well Google of course, and this came up and I was like "hey, cool..." so I found someone who knows the history behind that statue, you of course, and I'm not bragging, but I just felt I'd let you know that the General that the statue is of is my ancestor. :D
FROM CHINA TO KOREA
I have recently returned from two trips to China teaching English and I am about to start teaching again; this time in South Korea. I love travel, especially in Asia and by working there, feel I experience the country more than by just passing thru it.
My previous travels before China were 15 months in North America and Europe in 1975-76 and many South East Asian countries in 1980-81 for another 9 months. After almost another quarter of a century living in Australia, I got the travel bug once again.
This time I decided to do it slightly differently by working. I hear... full info
