I went to school in virgie I also used to go to that theatre you have in the picture.
the last time I went to that theatre was in the late 70s
I saw Harper Valley PTA.
in the 60s I saw "the sound of music" with my mom there
How ironic... I hadn't checked on your blog for awhile, and I just saw your address in my favorites when looking for a moment of retreat from an SAP audit. Romain and I just jumped in Australia. I had jumped before, but not with Sydney on the horizon. It seems like things are going well for you. It would be nice to see you sometime. I am home in November and December. Maybe you could come over for dinner?
Pikeville yay! We have visited Pikeville 4 times now and just love the place, it is great with the retro MacDonalds etc. To come from England and see a part of the US that is so unspoilt and 'country' is a real thrill. Having the Hatfield connection was the first reason for our visit and we have fallen in love with the amazing country side. We have also made friends with a great lady called Jean Hatfield who runs the Hatfield Family Museum in Sara Ann. So many great characters.
See you again soon!
Glad you had a good time! Hey! I'm happy you had a wonderful experience and I hope you come back out again. Your first jump is just the beginning, skydiving can open up a world of fabulous experiences for you.
pikeville attractions i live about 15 minutes from pikeville and there is nothing to do around . the expo center has some shows but not many family events and there is a small park .
we have to drive close to two or three hours for any amusment parks, zoos, aquariums ect.... we do have alot of resturants. and a couple very small museums that you have to pay a fortune to get into . that is about it.
India Ah, the post I've been eagerly anticipating. Very beautiful pictures--the Taj Mahal looks spectacular. Although, I must admit that some of the pictures are so awesome that they almost look fake; like one of those fake backdrops of world tourist sites. SURE, here's Henry in front of the Taj Mahal.....are you sure you actually went there?
The Agra fort was pretty impressive, too. Not sure why you would need BOTH crocodiles AND lions to keep people out. My guess it that it was a pretty effective deterent.
Interesting perspective of Mumbai For a Mumbaite who has grown up in Mumbai seeing it from your eyes is weird. I am in CA now, and understand that there is poverty and riches side by side in Mumbai but I realize all Mumbaites take it in their stride. It is a city of survival, so amidst all the poverty that you mention there is life, joy, hope and a will to be better. That is what makes Bombay the pulsating city that it is today. Comforts like airconditioning, clean roads, less traffic is possible in cities that have very less population, but the most amazing part of Mumbai is its ability to be so efficient despite the problems. I think Mumbai is a city of dreams and I hope you can see it that way too.
Mumbai Wah-waaaaaaahhhhhh--Debbie Downer. We do take so much for granted in America. Our poverty doesn't even compare to poverty in other countries. It just makes it that much more apparent to me while people would even be willing to go to Bahrain to work for almost nothing just to get away from such bad circumstances.
The Elephanta caves look really fascinating; if I ever go to Mumbai, I'll have to check them out. Can't wait to hear about the Taj Mahal and your adventures with J-Man.
LA Eh, not all that interested in visiting LA, either. I'm just glad your blog entry for this one didn't include a freak dolphin attack story. Man, this whole surfing thing could be dangerous!
That's really cool that you went to the Chinese Theatre, though. I actually didn't know that the general public could go to movies there. Maybe all those tourists don't know that, either.
Pikeville Well, despite you playing up Pikeville's very best, I don't think I'll be visiting any time soon. Still sounds like it was a nice reprieve from the usual big city travel.
Skiing in Aspen Somehow your ski trip makes my "awesome ski vacation" to Dubai look not quite so impressive. The longest run there takes less than four minutes from top to bottom.
Oh well, not all of us get to live such a jet-set life.....
Looks really cool! What ever happened with your ribs, though?
Home sick Nice pics ans story, makes me home sick, I now live in South Korea I moved here from Aspen, and I miss it, especially this year with all the snow they are getting. To bad you missed the X-Games those are fun to go to. Actually I went snowboarding here last weekend.
SO COOL! That looks awesome! I'm glad you got some sleep, but that stinks about the ribs! What is it with you and cool injuries?? Deep cut foot surfing in Australia, fractured ribs skiing in Aspen... how cool are those? I hurt my shoulder falling up the stairs the other night... not nearly as cool. haha
Wow, what a beautiful rainbow scene! And I'm glad you pointed out the people in the photos of the rocks...it totally changed my perspective of how large the rocks and surf are.
Awwww Just wanted to say that I like your pics, I live in Chiang Mai - Thailand, but spent some years when I was young at Maroubra...brought back memories. Thanks. Sorry about your foot, what a bummer.
WOW!! What awesome scenery!! I'm so glad you brought Shawn, he deserves a break and what a BEAUTIFUL break! That looks amazing. It's freezing here... literally!
I enjoy traveling... meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, seeing amazing architecture and landscapes, and trying new food. I also like to learn from observing and listening to the people I meet along the way and hopefully make a few new friends.... full info
