Thank you for such an interesting and complementary description of our area! We love it too. And Sandi and Chug are great people! See Sandi almost every day cleaning cabins or caring for the campground as we do our morning biking to Camp Wood. I simply marvel @ her energy and had no idea that she did that much cooking and baking to boot! wow! Niki & Don
camp wood texas Hi there you two bikers. We saw you in our neighborhood when you stayed @ Rocky River with Chug & Sandi. We live just across the river but you couldn't see us because we are hidden behind the huge oaks and pecan trees. We were saying "someday we ought to do that." I look forward to reading your other blogs as I'd googled Camp Wood and got this pleasant surprise. Happy Riding. Don & Niki
Flats Hey guys,
I stumbled onto your journal and noticed the high number of flats you're having. I had a similar problem and what I discovered was that the rim tape on my wheel was not covering well. Put on new quality rim tape and not a flat since. Hope this helps.
Good luck on your journey.
Got the great Xmas card today! Can't believe the very nice write-ups you gave me. . .I do show them off a bit. . .Come back when you can. Happy New Year and Merry Xmas.
So glad you were able to enjoy "Real Texas Hospitality", that we Texan's remember. It doesn't happen here, but if you go North, the famers are very hospitable.
We're talking to move to Texas because of the HOT.

Alpine, Texas Sounds like a friendly place. No wonder you are thinking about making this home. You know it gets real HOT in Texas in the summer right?
Plus they have snakes, scopions and all other types of big bugs coz everything is big in Texas. Talk with you soon.
I am glad you are almost done with your adventure but am so proud that you did it. Hugs and Kisses...Mom

SOOOOOO????? Did you get to meet Sherman while you were at Barnetts? Cuz I think he forgot to send me a check on one of his peachy customers... HAHAHAHA~~~~~
Texas I'm so glad you got to meet your dad's family there.
I remember him speaking of his Aunt Eustolia. We can only hope to live that long of a life. Thanksgiving is almost here and Christmas next month. Can you believe it?
Bike riders passing Hi from Doug & Sharon,
We met in Las Cruses, New Mexico at an RV park for the night. We were heading West to meet with friends for a bike ride in Silver City, NM as Shawn and Jody continued East. We are now back in Houston and hope to see the weary riders for a visit. Hopefully they can take us up on the offer of a warm place to sleep and let me do a bike check up. It’s a nice halfway point and I have connections with TREK bikes. I sell them. We took a few pictures and will let Shawn or Jody add them to their blog when they get here.
Good Luck with the flats, I‘ll see if I can assist on that problem as well.
Cya soon, D & S
Texas is coming up fast.
I'll be happy to put you up in a hotel for a night or even ride the Buell down and camp with you guys as you come through. Great story and a great ride. Keep it coming. Call me if I can help

How 'bout a day off? Hi Shawne and Jodie - What an adventure you two are having!! I enjoy every posting...Shawne, you really should consider a second career as an author. Your blogs are so well written and so entertaining. Jodie - how can you stand the bugs? I'd creep out!!! Hey - Innovative Equine would like to put you guys up in a hotel somewhere along the way. Let me know how we can go about making those arrangements for you. Take care, you two. Missy
hi Yes, the lovely air of winter. brrrr. So ya'll like heart-burger? One of our largest distributor's of chili-con-carne in Michigan, uses beef heart for their meat ingredient, could be why they sell a lot.
As you all know, the Tigers are at bats with St. Louis...Go ,Tigers, Go!!!
hey me again.
those rainbow critters are kind of like the water flys we had in Detroit, by the river, we squashed them with our bikes, with our feet, with our cars, they were everywhere, on everything, including but not limited to the water, windshields, covered the streets, and smelled so fishy, yech, sorry Jo, it isn't fun but it has to be done. Squish.....
Thank you for visiting our blog and reading about our adventures! This will be Shawne's first trip and Jodie's third trip across the United States by bicycle. We will try to update as often as we can, but we are not sure of the availability of internet access along the route. Enjoy!... full info
