nice photos! hey guys, great to read another instalment in the series. Was just telling one of our visiting friends about how you moved to the south island for the autumn and how much you loved it. Awesome that you are having a blast, and lovely to see photos of places that i haven't been to even tho it's my country!! I've always loved outback Australia, it's just something special.
Still in France, hitting Brisbane/Sydney and Melbourne in October to see the family. No idea what's next, road trip maybe!!! xx fi and nik
Great photos / Are you going back to Auckland for a month? Hi Patti & Don,
We have just returned from Europe, business in Germany for Tony, then on to Paris for a few days to catch up with Parisian family then on to Manchester to meet up with Gill upon arrival from Perth.
We went over for Gills brothers 60 th, hid in the local village of Prestbury for a few days prior to the party, had a great holiday for three weeks, half in the centre & half Southern UK.
Had a half day private tour, given by the PA of the Commander of the HMS Victory ( Gills organised to donate a medal to the Victory a few years ago, so receives special attention! You seem to be having a wonderful trip and are getting ever closer to crossing the Top in order to head South in our direction.
Are you going to Auckland for a month, or staying in Darwin to eat Prawns? I may be in Auckland August or September, any plans to return?
Keep up the wonderful communication. Love Tony & Gill
Elliott & Darwsin It would appear that we have the same feelings about Elliott. But unless you drive all day, there isn't much choice. Loved Mataraka, too. Their flood high water mark is awe inspiring. And we had the pleasure of staying at Howard Springs.
Will keep following your wonderful adventure
Camping in style Sounds like a real adventure! I also noticed the stylish boiling jug on the camp fire and a (no doubt fantastic) bottle of red nicely placed on the rock.... trust you two!
Alice Springs Hi Don and Patti, Lynne and Chris gave me a link to your travelblog and we have enjoyed reading your entries. Great to see you covering so much distance and getting lots of golf in. Your comments about Alice Springs and Finke bring back memories of our visit there while on our Simpson desert trip. Enjoy your travels. Regards, Linda and Denis Mckenzie.
alice! hey campers!
if you are going to buy any indigenous art please do go to the co-op owned and run by the indigenous of the area as most of the other dealers rip the artists off badly - eg, give them a clapped out car to go back to their settlement in, in exchange for thousands worth of art!
pubs per capita! hey you two,
great to read about your trip and love the photos! so.... are you starting to believe me about the pub per capita ratio in queensland????
I realised of course after reading your last instalment that you are already past blackall (where my realies are on the station - but i have been unable to get a response from them as yet.... things take time in the country you know) I am sure however that you are having a fabulous time as the locals out that way are at least entertaining.
Nik and I have booked our flights back. Quite frankly, there's really nothing happening out here and as lovely as it is to be home, we need to make sure we've an income over winter!
so keep up the blogging, and we'll stay in touch. We hit australia in october! must visit family or they really will kill me.
xx

Welcome Don & Pattie - We are away in June Dear Don & Patti, A very belated welcome back to OZ, you certainly seem to be having a wonderful journey thus far.
We are off to Europe in June, I depart for Germany 23rd May, then to Paris & on to UK to meet Gill on the 1st of June. We return on the 23 rd June, if by any miracle you are in Perth before our return, let us know now, so we can leave keys for house & cars for you, alternatively, let us know your approximate ETA Perth.
Also, please send dimensions of your caravan so we can allocate some appropriate place for when you do arrive in the Wild West.
Love from Tony & Gill
