Fellow traveller Hi Joel,
I am a fellow blogger and traveller, currently in Hue but going up to Hanoi later today. Was reading your recent blog as my finace is just writing something up for our website.
I liked reading your entry; I can sympathise with the heat and had to laugh when you mentioned Ho having the best air con. Yesterday we were on the DMZ tour and I have to say that the best bit was getting into the Vinh Moc tunnels just to get into the bloody shade!!
I came to Vietnam basically just to eat the pho which I fell in love with some years ago when I was in Hawaii no less!! When I saw that you love it too I just had to send you a 'comment'!!
Have fun and good luck with the rest of your travels.

Wow~ Joel! It seems like your China adventure is coming to a grand close. Good to know that you are doing well. Hope the remainder of the trip awaits many more exciting experiences!
Hey Joel,
I have so enjoyed reading about your adventures in China!! It so makes me want to travel again very soon, but alas I have an awesome job that I do not want to leave.
Anyways, I can't wait to read what happens next in Vietnam!
Safe travels,
Tracy
hi joel~~ well well well~~
it seems like you're really having a good time travelling around Asia...~
I really enny you!!~ i will go to the States this Summer to stay one year in San Francisco doing some research.
hopefully i can see you in the States, if not in Tibet!~~
drunken prawns and... did I see dog on one of the menu? Yup, I mean...Yip. Im curious to know just how common Dog is in CHina these days...my boyfriend is chinese and he said that when he was a kid, his family ate his dog!$*#!! Is it considered a delicacy/rare now? what's the deal with the Gou?
Silly I hope you don't intend to make me hike. You know how I hate walking and how I feel about hiking. If I was on the trip with you now, it would have been cable cars the whole way.
Hello! I enjoy reading your travel journal. After you finish your trip, make a book. It would be nice, isn't it? Take care your health. I am in New York and doing o.k....
hello joel~~ it was a pleasant surprise to see your pictures on the Internet!~
Were these pictures taken recently? or did you upload old ones?
Anyway, I'm just wondering how you're doing, and wish you a good luck to you and your trip!~
yangshou I can't get enough of your comments docjsh. Yangshou sounds wonderful although sadly won't have time to see it. Perhaps I'll be able to make a return trip.
The Drunken Prawns is delicious! It's one of the food that I miss most when I leave my hometown. But I could understand your feeling. When I saw some northern chinese ate silkworm, I feel exactly the same way with you.
welcome to hangzhou I am local chinese ,as I know ,not only shanghai richmen but also the richmen from all over the country even from oversea, like to buy house in hangzhou to show their socalled taste :)
The gov got money from estate industry, then make the environment more beautiful and comfortable to attract more richmen --perfect cycle.
More and more people call Hangzhou chinese Monaco ,a city only for richmen

Hi...My name is Joel and I am about to turn 35. I have been living in Korea for the past 3.5 years and as a reward to myself, I have planned the trip of a lifetime. It will last approximately 10 months and I will travel through China, Tibet, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and finally New Zealand, with the possibility of a stop-over in Tahiti or Fiji on my way back to the States.
I hope to have a trip that is gastronomically rich, personally challenging, and generally the adventure I've hoped to have since I was 10 years old.... full info
