13th September The sun doesn’t directly shine in Lima as there is a permanent sea mist from the ocean that blocks the sun out. Our guide Jesus arrived at the hotel at 10am to take us on a tour of Lima. Gorgeous city with some unreal buildings. A lot of the architecture is 15th, 16th century and still look to be in excellent condition. We visited Main Square where there are a lot of Government and foreign government buildings. All 16th century syle and excellently maintained. Our guide took us to a place where we could change money. There are moneychangers on lots of street corners but he chose one that was just outside a bank and there were 5 policemen standing around. The traffic signs for walking across the road and for the cars are ... read more

11thSeptember Flight to Iguazu today. Met by our guide where we proceeded to go directly to the falls. Toured around – absolutely magnificent. Words and pictures don't describe the falls. They are incredible. We all went on a board ride where they take you up close to the falls and got soaking wet but it was the greatest fun. That took the whole afternoon. By the time we got across the border to Brazil and checked into the Hotel Cataratas it was 7pm. We will probably all have an early night as tomorrow will be a long day. 12th September The hotel is very 5 star and it was a nice change from the hotels we have previously stayed at in Sth America. See pictures 8.30am start to walk around the Brazilian side of the falls. ... read more

South America » Argentina » Buenos Aires September 11th 2012

Saturday 8th September The plane arrived early to Buenos Aires and I was collected at the airport by the tour guide and taken to the hotel. Downtown is 38km’s from the airport and the road is massive. The only road to downtown from the airport is a toll road that is at least 6 lanes wide on each side. Seriously - no-one uses blinkers at all on the roads unless going around a corner. The streets in Buenos Aires are all one way and at least 3 or 4 lanes wide not counting the kerbside lanes. Some of the streets don’t even have line markings but it all seems to work fine. Everyone just changes lanes all the time. Sunday 9th September Spent the day wandering around the city. Ended up down at Puerto Madero where ... read more

8thSeptember Up at 4am. Graeme took me to the airport so was there around 5.30am. Had to wait until 5.45am to check in but that was very quick. Luggage was booked straight through to Buenos Aires as I had printed off my boarding pass for the second leg. Had hours to kill so went and had breakfast and logged on to check out the wi-fi process. This little thing works well.. Went through customs about 8am. Had to practically empty my backpack to pass through security but I suppose that’s what you have to do these days. Plane was late so we didn’t leave until 11am (flight supposed to leave at 9.45). Great flight and it was a quick flight as we arrived only 10mins late. Must get great tail winds going East. Absolutely unreal coming ... read more
