I am so proud of you David. You have made great strides on this trip becoming bolder with each passing day. The trip of a lifetime. I am so glad you stuck with it and can't wait to hear your travel stories. Maybe you can make your next trip to the DC area !
When in Rome... Sounds great David! Soak it all in-- next thing you know you'll be in San Rafael. Don't forget to sample that pizza-I want a detailed report.
pizza In Italy, you could even ask the conductor on the train what time the train will arrive, he'll look at his watch and say," later. "
They are infamous for delays, strikes and schedules..ha. Good luck on the last leg of your journey.
Do people eat pizza in Italy?
Way to Go... Sounds like you've pulled through, great work!
Once again it's time to enjoy where you happen to be and appreciate that it is Nice (there certainly are worse places you could be)!! Monaco and Cannes don't sound too bad either. Soak in the Mediterranean... see the Chagall Museum... check the train schedules... :D
Now you have Florence to visit on your next trip. You're the best!
who needs apostrophes, add as much time to Florence as you can. Nice is nice, but Florence is magnificent.
I hope you're not eating matza this week, the bread IS so good in Paris. ~Karen
David, Your adventures sound great. Of course you couldn't possibly do/see it all in each city. You experience what you're drawn to in the moment. Sounds like you are navigating and planning quite well. And drinking and walking and struggling and discovering and drinking and meeting people. You earn a Monkey's Fist, for sure. ~Karen
Sounds like you're ready Hey Davidicus! You sound more and more comfortable about your travels with every blog. Having a friend or two to run around with and stay with was pretty special. Seems like you're ready to strike out on your own again, though, and your last 10 days sound like they will be filled with sights of many new places. I can't wait to hear how it is being in Barcelona at the end of this adventure compared to the beginning. You've come such a long way, not just in distance. Stay safe! Much love from cold, wet (no hail, though) San Rafael. Happy Easter Sunday!
hail yes! Just be glad you'v got so much hair-- imagine hail on MY head. No love, huh? Oh well. But how's the food? That's supposed to be pretty good too.
April Fools in Paris... Enjoy the day. Take some great pictures. See some very old art. Grab a loaf of French Bread. Brush that big hairy spider off your shoulder (April Fools!!).
Much love from home.
yeah, it was a great thing to hear from a guy who just went through the exact same thing as me for certain. The crazy thing was he´s going to be going straight for at least 4.5 months... jeeze. But I´ll definitely be happy to have some advice on the adjusting back, when the time comes. Thanks!
Yay! Please Chels, send me an email with any advice you´d like, cause I totally left that entire piece of paper at my last hostel in Barcelona... hahaha, thanks again!
I knew you would... Davidicus,
I knew you would settle in and rock this trip. As Ross told you, the beginning is always the most challenging. Culture shock really does exist, trust me. All the traveling in the world can't keep you from feeling a little lost and misplaced once in a while. But as I suspected, you are rockin it. Kick ass and pull past, is what my dad always says. (What's really going to be crazy is when you return, and feel the culture shock of home; but I'll give you pointers when you get back.)
So, as you are describing, the process of discovery is an incredible one. I'm so pleased that you took the time to report on the real fun stuff you are experiencing. So, just sit back and enjoy the ride!
roam ask your hostel or hotel for a map and some basic directions they are ususally more than happy to help. try going to a restaraunt and not a bar...better food and better service. oh and i found my rome book. a little to late but the name of that church with the bones is the tomb of the Capuchine Monks.... i'll look up directions for you when you get closer..if you want to check it out
Get a guidebook :) How nice there's Internet at this place too. Stay safe. A few people told me they really like iPods in Spain. Hope you're documenting your travels with photos.... the places you're staying as well as the more famous sights.
Hope Ross is a good travel buddy. Enjoy tomorrow.
Going Solo.... a New Rhythm Hey David. Remember it's only three days into a three week adventure... you are absolutely stretching your comfort zone and being a solo traveler or ANY traveler is new to you. You will get more comfortable with the "breaks" and enjoy reading a book in a plaza or cathedral courtyard. Soak it all in while you can!
Love from boring California!
Hiya folks. So I'm about to go on a trip. Traveling alone for the first time. Traveling through countries where I don't speak the language for the first time... and I'm frightened out of my mind at the prospect... It's gonna be amazing! How can I not blog it?... full info
