Oh...now I'm really jealous :P Why is that music can bring the World together, yet dialogue can't? I'll have to put you together with another of my Australian friends who is also incidentally called Dave and lives in Sydney. His son plays in an amazing band called Watussi which is a blend of South American vibes and other diverse cultural influences :)
Ahhhh :) Yes, Islam has a lot to answer for, even if the majority are now peaceable, law abiding folk ;) Again, great pictures Dave, but just because I bang on about 'Moral Photography' I feel that the odd sneaky shot here and there does not an immoral photographer make hee hee :)
Old faces I am loving your portraits of the older folk - every line & wrinkle tells a story - my favourite is the 1st pic - Tengger man - he makes me feel happy & he is not airbrushed - yeh for wrinkles!!!
I hear ya! Nice blog, Dave. I could almost feel the music, feel the heartbeat. Gawd....Hotel California, Santana, House of the Rising Sun! My grandchildren laughing at me now as I keep on humming while reading this blog. Yeah, our music! Love it [:)]
THANKS LILIRAM There's still plenty of life in these *** legs...glad to see you are a rocker from wayback...plenty of us around...and how did the rockstar pics grab you?...cool dudes indeed.
"We prefer it to traffic"... (So do we!) Such an enjoyable blog Dancing Dave! The sheer enjoyment of the moment transcended the page. You tell a great tale...
THANKS SHANE Nice choice. A comment from the Travelcamel...always appreciated...makes it worthwhile to do a blog that is really just for the portraits...more to come. I did not expect Java to be portrait paradise...but it was...the Tengger...I have lots of favourites.
Nice one! Love these portraits, natural and catching so much emotions, really nice ones, thanks Dave! and as usual you know how to hook your readers, very much looking forward reading about your four days in the mountain! Take care,
THANKS LAETITIA I felt the Tengger deserved a Portrait blog...beautiful faces...so I have kept the story of how we became accepted as locals by the Tengger to my next blog...hope you get a kick out of it...and the portraits...speak for themselves...allowed me to capture their characters...and as you are the first to comment...the next blog is for you.
Yup... once I've emptied my cardboard boxes that I've been living out of I will get back into the flow of things. The blogs are written, I just need to sort my pictures out now :)
Greetings Dave! Apologies, but I've been homeless and Internetless for the last 3 weeks. Anyway, I see your latest blog is in keeping with the usual high Dancing Dave standards and your photography is yet again simply sublime....I have to agree with Jens about the man boobs though....ouch hee hee. I so agree with your statement that it is the little things that really matter. I've been an avid proponent of that belief for the last few years and long ago realised that money and riches are most definitely the root of all evil.
NICK'S BACK Wondering how Thailand was...the Cockle had gone missing...homeless and Internetless...sounds like a blog a'coming. The joy of travelling...and hanging out with locals...watch this space.

THANKS ANU If hope I have encouraged you to visit Java...I highly recommend it...great temples & carvings in stone...which you would like...Prambanan, Borobudur, Sukuh...and heaps of small Hindu temples around the island. Java...some of the friendliest people we have met on our travels. We organised the trip through javatourism.com...fair bit of liasion working out where we wanted to go etc...just the two of us...ended up with a superb itinerary. If you want more details contact me by private message on my blog page. More Java blogs to come...watch this page.
THANKS JENS Nice to hear from you. Man boobs indeed...after all the sign of masculinity is the essence of the World...I thought they meant something else..!
My wife Denise & I like to travel "on paths less travelled" that capture our imagination, inspire my photography & where we mix with locals & remain safe.
