North America » United States » Illinois » Chicago October 7th 2007

Hey all, Less than 24 hours after my arrival back in Atlanta from Sydney, I followed Logan and Adrienne to Chicago, Illinois, for supporting their first marathon. I never have guessed that we would be part of history. Chicago Marathon turned out to be a brutal event due to unexpected heat, and the official were forced to shut down the course four hours after the start in the mid of 88-degree heat and sweltering humidity. One runner died on the race course, while 49 others were brought to hospital and some 250 were treated at the site. Unfortunately Logan and Adrienne also didn’t finish the marathon with some 10,934 other runners. We were a little bit upset, but nothing we can do at this point. -Cy ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney September 24th 2007

Greetings from the Down Under! This is my second leg of a journey with Halef and Ryan to the Australasia. We have been staying over in Sydney for a while, with an excursion to Australian nation capital of Canberra. Australia is definitely a rewarding place to visit, and Sydney is enjoyable to walk around. The city is beautiful, plethora of entertainments and venues. We did so many different things in this great city, and love it every minutes of it! I met Halef's friends in Sydney: Fika, Vivi and Jenni, and of course they all love me. Even Fika invited me over to Melbourne where she lives, and I wish I had more time in Australia to visit her. On Sunday, Ryan and Halef completed their Sydney Marathon, which consists of 42,195 kms of running. Ouch. ... read more

Oceania » New Zealand September 16th 2007

Hey all, I tagged along with Halef and Ryan in the beautiful country of New Zealand. We started off in the biggest city of Auckland, then made our way down south to Rotorua and ended up in Queenstown/Milford Sound in the South Island. I saw many interesting things in this prestine country. Not many things are taken for granted, and all Kiwis love to learn about visitors to their country. Unfortunately there wasn't any sightings for Kiwi birds, as I was looking out for them. Well off we go over the Tasman Sea to Australia, so I will sign out for now. -Cy... read more

North America » United States » California » Los Angeles » Hollywood September 8th 2007

Hey all, Halef and I are transiting in the City of Angels for a day, en route to the Down Under. In a short time, we managed to see the Hollywood sign fairly close, and strolled around the famous movie complex in Hollywood. We saw many street performers around the Chinese Theater and Kodak Theater, where annual Oscar award is held. This is my second time to Los Angeles after tagging along with Logan last year. Now we are heading Down Under. We will keep you updated with our oncoming trip! -Cy... read more

North America » Canada » Quebec » Québec City August 28th 2007

Hey all, Joe is in Quebec City to run his 18th marathon, and I was invited to come along with him and his wife Elizabeth. It is a great relief to escape from the Southland heat; Quebec’s high temperature is in the mid 80s. After a connecting flight which was originated in Boston, we finally arrived in Quebec City with a smaller airplane. And yes, this is my first time in Canada, and I am excited to see what our northern neighbor has to offer. Quebec is a Canadian province with heavily French influence, and the Old World feeling of Quebec City is evident with the presence of stone buildings around town. Majority of our time is spent around Lawrence River, with landmark of Chateau Frontenac perched on top of a nearby hill. The Quebec Marathon ... read more

Europe » Norway August 14th 2007

Hey all - Our flight connection brought us to a transit in Frankfurt, Germany, and since it is not a smoking-free airport, it has a non pleasant smell to it. Plus we almost missed our connection flight to Oslo due to double security systems. Anyway. Michael and Kalle are in Norway for Kalle's good friend's wedding. Ingvild's wedding was beautiful, albeit the unpleasant weather. Tons of food and drink and story telling and dancing! Norway is far beyond what I have imagined before. Although it is in the middle of summer, the temperature is rather chilly - perhaps because it is raining for the most part during our visit. We took a hike up around the lake where Ingvild's mother lives and quite enjoyed it. Subsequent bus ride to Bergen marked the beginning of our travel ... read more

South America » Ecuador » North » Quito July 27th 2007

All, I am with Scott, Susan and Benjamin in Quito for a week. We had a great trip so far, with some highlights on zip-lined through Cloud Forrest and mixed concrete for a daycare facility. Montezuma’s Revenge took place for a couple of days, but we managed to cope with it and were able to enjoy the rest of the trip. Until next time, -Cy ... read more

Y’all, Logan and Adrienne (yes, I know, I am addicted to tag along with them) have hosted me in Santo Domingo in island nation of Dominican Republic. Logan’s old roommate Eliel decided to marry a girl from Florida, and although both of them live in Atlanta, they wanted to conduct a wedding in Eliel’s hometown of Santo Domingo. Onto the second day of our trip, one of the girls from the wedding party got her necklace snatched by two guys in a motorcycle, so it might be a good thing for the rest of us, as we are very cautious for the rest of the trip. We managed to visit beach and sightseeing most of the touristy site of Santo Domingo, however, we left our passports and valuables (including some cameras) back in the hotel. But ... read more

North America » United States » Florida » Naples June 24th 2007

Greetings from Naples! When Adrienne told me that we’re visiting Naples, my initial thought was the city in Italy, but nonetheless Naples, Florida has its own charms. Adrienne had her high school reunion this weekend, so I hauled my bag along with Logan’s to attend her event. Apart from the reunion, we managed to sightsee and relax at Naples Beach, where the sand is white and the water is blue. We found many close-to-perfect sand dollars, and got some nice tan from hanging out at the beach. Well it was just another weekend with Logan and Adrienne, before heading out to my next adventure. Till then, -Cy ... read more
