So we decided that there really isn't much to do in Salt Lake so we headed up to Park City today. It's not that far from SLC, about 30 miles. It is really beautiful up there. It must be amazing in the Winter with all of the snow everywhere. We took the girls to a little amusement park that had an alpine slide and rollar coaster. Of all the the hikes we've done in the desert of utah, why is it that I got sunburned in Park City?! Despite that fact, Park City is really nice. It reminds me a lot of Whistler or what I imagine Aspen or Breckenridge to be. We had lunch at a brewery that had really good food. After most of the day we came back into SLC and took the ... read more

We left this morning early to head up to Salt Lake City. There are a lot of lakes and rivers in Utah. On the drive up we stopped in Salt Lake to see BYU. I was tempted to throw on a USC shirt and walk around. Mark didn't like my idea. It is an really small school. Not much bigger than Mt. SAC or Citrus College for those of you who live in the San Gabriel Valley. Then we drove up to the Kennecott Copper Mine. Its the only open copper mine in the US. It is big enough that it can be seen from the Space Shuttle. To me it looked like a big hole in the ground but it was interesting to read the exhibits regarding the mine. We then headed to our hotel ... read more

We left last night for Bryce Canyon. The drive took about 2 hours. What surprises me the most about Utah is how green South Utah is. When I thought of Utah I thought it would be desert. Parts of it are, but a big portion of it is a national forest. Bryce Canyon is beautiful. It is full of multi-colored rock foramtions. We took a three mile hike down into the canyon. We were able to hike through some caverns. We then had a picnic lunch in Bryce and went to another hike called the Mossy Cave. Surprise! It leads to a mossy cave. Not much to look at. But we took another path to a waterfall and the girls played in the water. We stayed at the Best Western Rubys Inn and our room looked ... read more

We got up early and went off to hike The Narrows. While the Narrows is very beautiful and striking, it is also very rocky. The deepest water that we encountered was approx. 3' deep. Caitlin probably did the best out of all of us. I did fall at one point. We hiked approx. 2.5 miles upstream and then came back down. Hope that you enjoy the pictures! -Courtney... read more

We left Vegas this morning to head over to Zion. It took about two and a half hours. Not to bad of a drive. We stayed at the Zion Lodge which is located in the park. It really is nice to be able to stay right in the park with the girls. For a side note, there was not a TV nor a pool at the Lodge. I'm not sure who was more dissapointed Mark with no SportsCenter or the girls without a swimming pool. Once we got settled and checked in we decided to start hiking. We hiked the lower, middle and upper emerald pools. The total hike was just 2 -3 miles round trip. The lower pools were pretty weak. I see more rain on the street after a rainstorm at home. Then we hiked ... read more

We are officially on vacation!! Our first stop is here in Vegas at my sister-in-laws house. We arrived in town about 6:30, had some delicious tostadas and got caught up with Melissa and Brendan.
