Geo: 22.2249, -159.452Earning morning in kauai. Everybody up early do to time change. Just finished a walk along the beach with Gary. Little overcast, but doesn't bother me. we are staying on the North shore which is a little rainy. we may head to the South shore today which is supposed to be sunny and calm in the winter. our house is right on the beach. We get the sound of the ocean and waves all day.On on our walk we passed a local couple with their two dogs. One of the dogs was digging so hard in the sand only his tail was sticking out. He was digging for crabs. They limit him to 2 per day. guess he loves his crab.black cat hanging around our deck. We gave him some of Gary's Soy milk, ... read more

Geo: 39.2009, -86.2399Perfect weather today and perfect trail conditions. We had a great ride all over the brown county trails. The trails were much drier today than yesterday and not near as slippery. We rode hard and then went to town for one of our local favorites the deep-fried biscuits with apple butter and honey. Then some power shopping, and we managed to still have dinner and of course ice cream after. A very tough day.... read more

Geo: 39.2007, -86.2398Left St. Louis last night right from work. The drive was little longer than expected due to several detours. The final leg of the drive was on a small 2 Lane Country Rd. However the bridge was out so we had to detour onto an even smaller windy 2 Lane Rd. Of course for about 20 minutes we were behind the slow-moving camper. We were really surprised at how foggy it was last night driving here in the dark. After about 20 miles behind the camper we realized it was only foggy on the hills and the camper was putting out some nice thick exhaust smoke. Finally get to two lanes and passed them before we asphyxiated.Woke up to a fairly cold morning around 45°. So We relaxed this morning and then ventured out ... read more

Geo: 53.3441, -6.26749final reflections on Irelandtoday was our last real day. We leave for home tomorrow morning. we are ready to go home, although it feels like we have been gone a lifetime. We kept up with email, but not with much of anything else. the TV channels here are terrible, not that we had much time to watch TV. We have tried to watch some of the Tour de France, but the graphics aren't as good. It is hard to tell the status of the various riders, which is usually on the bottom of the screen at home, plus all the narration is in French, which doesn't help.today we mainly walked around seeing the sites of Dublin and did a little shopping, We have certainly done our part in contributing to the Celtic economy. we ... read more

Geo: 53.3441, -6.26749Back to Chris...I am choosing not to retaliate against Tom.I could tell many embarrassing stories, but will get even with him another time.today we logged 25,000 steps on our pedometers walking around Dublin. thank God it is flat. Our bodies are feeling it. Advil time.Started today at Trinity College with a tour with one of the students, Marc, which was highly entertaining. he is a theatre major so he made it really fun with great stories about the college. when we finished, the line to see the Book of Kells was really long. He suggested coming back later in the day, which we did and e walked right in. the book was cool, but the Old Library was even more interesting. they don't use the Dewey Decimal System. books are organized by size. the ... read more

Geo: 53.3441, -6.26749It seems I have effectively infiltrated "the blog." Time for mischief.Traveling in Ireland with these two crazies and Dee was quite entertaining. If you haven't noticed from their blog entries, every morning seems to revolve around their "schedules," and Chris is afraid to leave the hotel until she has "taken care of business." Then there's the back-and-forth reading of every item on a menu at each restaurant with an "ooo" in of each dish ("Ooo, fish and chips with local pollock, ooo traditional irish stew"). You also get used to hearing comments in stereo whenever you arrive at a tourist site. Chris will see the site first and react, Dot won't hear her because she's got her nose buried in a packet of pages torn out of Rick Steves, then Dot will see the ... read more
