I'm 22, from Wales, and currently traveling around the world (partly) with my friend Simon. Two months in I've decided to start my own blog after seeing the success of his...with any luck this one will be by far the most popular by the time we meet up again in Fiji in May!

Buenos! Greetings from Central America...I know it's been a while but stop worrying, we are still alive. Traveling at quite a pace, in fact. In a little under three weeks we've made it from San Jose, Costa Rica, to the Bay Islands, Honduras, quite an achievement, we think. However, since you haven't heard from me since I left Indonesia (that seems like a long time ago...) it seems only right that I very briefly fill you in what has occurred since then. So... From Bali I flew to Fiji via Sydney (since I saw both the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House from the plane on the way in I'm tempted to include Australia in my list of countries visited...Simon unsurprisingly disagrees). I'm sure you're aware, since I probably mentioned it last time, that Fiji was ... read more

Hello again, finally! Apologies for such a long delay between blogs - blame it on some whirlwind traveling if you like. I am in fact, as the title suggests, writing this during my final few hours in Indonesia, back where it all started - on Bali. Some parting thoughts on this truly amazing country to follow...firstly, however, I guess I should update you on my most recent movements. When I last blogged, I was in the tiny port town of Sape, East Sumbawa, waiting to catch the 9 hour ferry to Labuanbajo, Flores. This I duly did, though not in any great comfort. Before even reaching Flores I had decided that my original plan of driving halfway across the island was simply too ambitious, given the amount of motorcycling I would have to do to get ... read more

Greetings from the road! As the title of this latest blog would suggest, I have finally moved on from Kuta, Lombok; not permanently though, mind, I intend to head back there in ten days or so for a final week of surf before leaving Indonesia. I am now on Sumbawa, the next island east after Lombok. I'm spending tonight in Sape, the tiny port town on the very east of the island, before taking a nine hour ferry to Flores, an island still further east, tomorrow. The title of the blog should also give some indication as to how I made it out here...yes indeed, by motorcycle. Readers of Simon's original SE Asia blog will be aware that my debut motorbiking appearance ended less than ideally, with a small crash into an inconveniently located wall. Needless ... read more

Hello, and welcome to another blog! The observant readers will have already noticed that this one comes from the same island as the last one - namely, Lombok. This is because I have really slowed down over the last week, settling in a small town called Kuta. Pretty much every traveler who comes here comes to surf...I've been no exception, getting out once or twice a day every day for the last week. My days have started taking on a familiar, but not boring, routine. Up at around 8am for a banana pancake and Lombok coffee (unfiltered, so slightly chewy...still excellent though). Then jump on a motorbike and head to a surf spot at around 9am, spending around 3 hours trying to catch some waves before paddling or taking the boat back to shore. I'm normally ... read more

Hello and good afternoon (or Selamat siang in Bahasi Indonesia)! Apologies for the slightly behind schedule nature of this, my second blog, but I've been waiting for the right place to write it from...the right place being somewhere where internet access is cheap. And so, finally, at 20p an hour, I can recount my adventures of the last ten days or so... Part 1 - Many Monkeys When I last communicated, I was in Kuta on Bali. I can't remember exactly how I described it - 'lively,' probably, though Magaluf for Australians would really be more accurate. I stayed just long enough to go out a couple of times before running for the hills; specifically, I went to Ubud, a small town further inland and the traditional arts and culture capital of Bali. I spent a ... read more

Hello, and welcome to my first real blog! On Thursday evening, at around 3 30pm, I left my friend and, up to that point, constant traveling companion Simon Botley in the departures lounge at Singapore Airport. The first two months of our trip had ended and we were heading in (slightly) different directions - Simon flew to Cairns, Australia, to spend a month traveling down the East coast to Sydney before spending the same amount of time in New Zealand. I flew to Bali, to spend two months in Indonesia. Exactly where, I'm not sure, but for the moment I am in a place called Kuta. More to follow on that later... Since this is my first blog, I feel that a summary of the last two months, from the time we left Heathrow on January ... read more
