hi enjoyed the story,
what was the name of the pub? i'm going there soon, i'm gay, and there dont seem to be many gay pubs there if you look online...
thanks
couchsurfing dot org Hey Jess. Best way to start couchsurfing is to set up an account on their website. Once you fill out a profile, ask to surf someone's. That is how I got started and have never looked back. I now host others in Boulder, CO and will certainly be surfing again
Hey mate, love your entries, will miss them now you're home sweet home! But look forward to your new adventures! Have a good new year's eve, oh and of course a fabulous travellous new year!
Not unusual Oh, you Americans are so conservative. Outside of America, the giving and receiving of massages at urinals is completely normal. This does not make it a gay club. The guy probably just thought you looked tense and was trying to help out. Very considerate and friendly!
LOL!
brought back memories Anton, great, entertaining stories. I found the language barrier as being almost insurmountable in China (many many years ago). Rarely had a menu in other than Chinese and sometimes just went into the kitchen to point at things I wanted to eat. Try it. Oh the buddhist sculptures though!
Am I famous now that I'm mentioned in Anton's blog??!! Likely you have a readership of over 1 million people! Haha
Hi there mate, would definitely sign up for that home made dinner, sounds really good. Hope you're trek turned out nice, as well as the smaller cities you mentioned near Yangsuo... found them a bit touristy (as much as I saw that is), but was mostly annoyed by the locals almost harrasing you to hire a bamboo.
Try crossing the river in Xin Pin and then sort of get lost on one of the mountains while riding the bike... Good fun and there's always a way back to Yangshuo ;-)
Take care, Ype (killing time at Saigon airport)
Different strokes for different folks This line sums up both the other blog writer and my views perfectly. Good recommendation. Thanks. Simply accept the differences for what they are.
Chinese society is conservative society. Even kissing between couples or girlfriend and boyfriend in Public is not acceptable(though maybe no one will protest it, but they hate it).
So gay is not that acceptable at least in public. But it does not mean they are gaies if two guies have good relation.
Also, I recommend you to read this blog entry:

Gan bei Tosha! That sounds really cool and like a wow-not-to-be-missed experience! Lucky you. Hope you're still okay, but don't seem to have a reason to think otherwise. Keep up, I'm off to you next entry (little behind ;-)). Cheers!
Incredible Tosha, this is amazing. I'm so glad you're doing this and having a fantastic time. I can't wait to see you, all your pictures, and hear all about your trip!
Your china trip seems much better than mine ... I might have to venture back there
love this! Tosh I have to say I am loving your blog. You write really well and your photos are beautiful! Makes me want to visit China, and I honestly didn't have much of an interest to before. Looking forward to your next entry! :)
Rice Patties Rice Patties remind me of Lemon Grass - the chicken things you put on rice patties that Stopa loves! I'm assuming this isn't the same thing eh?
I want. Did you put a "Lexi owns this" flag up top? If not...shame on you.
P.S. I feel that you should bring your cute new friends home for the delight of all female friends.
priceless This is my favorite entry so far. So many times you literally had me laughing out loud (or lol for you blogger folk). I love the image of you walking around to different tables starring at their food trying to convey what you want to eat. Boy, I wish it had worked out for me to come join you for a bit! Looking forward to your next blog...happy travels!
After living in three countries by the age of 24, traveling is simply in my blood. Finding a new mountain to climb or river to cross whether it is in New Zealand or New Hampshire gives me the same electrifying feeling. I should have started one of these a looooong time ago but no better day than today, no better time than now. Thank you to all who have been able to let me do what I do best...roam
