on that note I think you're mistaken, Martin. If you apply for residency it takes about 9-12 months to process, and in between they give you a work visa (depending on the type of visa you are applying for) And the 5 year rule, is about citizenship, not residency. Residency either gets given or not, there is no specific time period. From what I know... Well either country will be great - as long as you guys are closer to us! And hey we dont mind having family in Brisbane, it will be a great place to visit!
Stay cool

NZ Hi,
I looked at NZ, initially I thought it would be easier getting in there, but I really would need to get a job there first, and in order to do so I would need to spend a few weeks there for interviews, as it is unlikely I would get offered a job unless the employer had met me face to face.
Aussie has a 457 visa, from what I understand the points system falls away as the way it works is that if you are good enough for an employer in Aussie to offer you a job, then thats good enough for the gov to grant you the visa. Also, after 2 years you can get perm residence, unlike NZ which is 5.
I have my CV with a mate in Aussie, I'm hoping he can put me in touch with the right contacts.
cheers
Martin
Hey Martin! Thanks for the birthday wishes. Now, after doing the walkabout thing I think that NZ is a pretty cool place to live. I think that it could be a nice life in Canada, but it would be an expensive one and the size of the place really limits us from travelling around. It takes ages to get around. You should definatly look at coming to NZ. Why dont you start planning a trip for, say next year Feb (2009), and check it out? By then we will be set up for visitors. Hope to see you soon!
Caroline
Happy Birthday!!! Not sure if I wished you b4, but there you go!
OK - so you've done the walkabout thing - now tell us SA isn't so bad after all?
Been doing some research on Auckland - rates 5th in world quality of life survey - not bad!
You reckon we should pack our bags and join you in NZ or stay put?
cheers
Martin
Hi Kurt, Yes I am having a good time, but still am looking forward to coming back to Wellie. There is no place like it, I can honestly say... Hope alls going well for you - and your family - and the business is going well. I look forward to a catch up coffee when I get back from this big trip(probably June/July 2008).
Thanks Karen, I am really glad you enjoyed the photos - especially in Morocco, I think I enjoyed the photos more than what I did when I was there (it was just too hot!!) ... You should get blogging too -- your life is so interesting, I am sure you can write stories on your trip to Albania!!
Cxx
I love, love, love your pictures Wow I only saw your blog today Caroline. All your photo's look amazing. You really have a way with words I was imagining everything with the words you used in each of your stories and it was like I was actually there (I wish he he). You have a knack with writing Caroline you should write a book on all your travels. I cant wait to see your next blog on Vancouver. Take care and let me know how your work is....All my love to you and Benoit :):) xx Karen

I hope all is well.
Cheers

ENGERLAND Is that photo of Benait after too much culture? or perhaps, after he has stocked up on weed at Camden market! Your island/cycle tour sounded great. Did you catch any of the Tour de France? We have got quite into it over here. It was almost ozzie ozzie ozzie at the end. Imagine!

hi Ashok you have to make it to Europe - stop talking to that tree and start planning your long awaited trip. It is like the centre of the universe - to quote Predrag in one of his emails. Miss all the chats, and discussions, hope all is good there....You can subscribe to my blog to get regular updates if you like.
Wine wine & more wine I like the way you think my friend....all this talk of finding the perfect wine (a white wine for me too!)....not yet mastered drinking red wine. How stunning and enchanting your pictures of Arles are. Love your blog and so nice to be in touch with you again! I was worried we'd lost contact !! Take care of yourself and enjoy your summer in France. Cinds xxxxxxxxxxx
kia ora Hey guys. Blogging is a great idea. Arles looks amazing. And warm. Its soooo cold in wellingotn. Snow on the tararuas. Must be time for a tramp. But who's going to cook the blue cheese risotto now?! Although I dont think we will have any trouble finding someone to drink the wine. In other news, Nic and I got engaged.. I know!! Happened a couple of weekends ago but I wasnt allowed to tell anyone until Nic had the bling on her finger, evidently its not real until then. No date yet. Nic wanted a summer wedding but her older sister has "booked out" February for her own wedding, so we have to wait in line. No other news to top that. :-) Look forward to your updates. Matt.
